Part of the attraction of the upcoming Ghostbusters game is the reunion of the original cast of the films. Well, let's make that most of the original cast of the films.
Variety has announced that Sigourney Weaver, who was originally reported as being part of the game's cast, will not be a part of the voice cast. The role Weaver played in the movies, Dana Barrett, will now be played by Alyssa Milano (Charmed, Who's the Boss). The only other significant cast member from the two movies not lending their voice to the game is Rick Moranis, who has retired from performing in recent years.
Ghostbusters will be released on June 16th for just about every system under the sun.

No big loss. Its just voice over work and if they are keeping the Dana Barett character I'd rather see a younger looking one with Milano's voice anyday. Louis Tully could easily be impersonated by anyone, or give the character a new voice.

Murray and Aykroyd are the only necessity as far as I am concerned.

Wonder why they didn't just use a unknown voice. saves them a hell of a lot of money I would think. Then again, she's hot I guess to have walking around in the studio.

Alyssa is probably working fairly cheap these days. What does she have on the plate since Charmed went off the air?
This and her clothing line??

Moranis isn't appearing? Blast it all, Rick. You did that terrible Disney movie, but you're not going to do this?

This is true. Gotta have Ramis and Hudson in there too.

He lost his wife to cancer and then devoted himself to his family full time.

He lost his wife to cancer and then devoted himself to his family full time.
Back in 1996. He DID quit acting to raise his children - however, in 2003, he was a voice actor for Disney's Brother Bear. In 2006, he was in Brother Bear 2. If he's going to voice act bad movies, he might as well do ghostbusters projects that only require voice.
Also, don't you EVER pretend to know more about Rick Moranis than me ever again.

I thought I remembered hearing that Moranis and Weaver were not part of this waaaay back during Sierra's spring game event last year, but I could never be sure it was accurate. Guess it was, which is too bad. I'll miss Moranis.

She started out voicing a new character, but was asked to take over Dana's role after Weaver dropped out. Here's the quote: Alyssa Milano ain't afraid of no ghosts -- or filling Sigourney Weaver's shoes.
The 36-year-old "Charmed" actress is starring alongside the world's most famous paranormal exterminators in "Ghostbusters: The Video Game." The upcoming action game, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, features the original film's cast sans Weaver.
"Obviously, fans of the movie are going to miss Sigourney Weaver," said Milano, who was offered the part of the game's leading lady after Weaver declined to reprise her role as Dana Barrett. "I have so much respect for that character in the movie that I hope I do the position that she is in justice. I was just flattered to be asked to be part of 'Ghostbusters'."
