Those logic gates are intense. Too bad he didn't make an LCD type of display (interpolating the dots) THAT would have been truly impressive. Had to do that in my digital design class long long ago

Mrs Squid is frothing at the mouth for this game, as am I. I'm beginning to wonder how far your imagination can go with this sandbox.

Yeah, I'm almost thinking that it may justify a PS3 purchase for me finally.

I saw the math and thought "Hey, that is pretty neat!", but then I saw the workings of his creation and it blew my mind. So awesome.

It is what swung the good lady and I. We haven't bothered with a PS3 until now, but I just boiught her one as a birthday gift, along with a pre order of LBP.

Not as technically impressive, but fun nonetheless

That is pretty cool.

My only worry about LBP is if the core part of the game is fun, so when the "hey! new! cool things!" aspect wears off, that it's still fun.

Quick, what's the cheapest PS3 SKU so I can pick one up specifically for this?

Inverarity
10-07-2008, 09:00 AM
I had no idea that that sort of thing would be possible in LBP. That's really, really impressive...it's a rudimentary ALU, for Pete's sake.

My PS3 has only been used for movies for the past few months. I think that'll be changing soon.

Wow, that's insane. How many hours did it take to create that I wonder?

I'm going to need to get this game...

WOW!

All joking aside, I'm actually quite impressed, but that doesn't mean it will be fun. You can theoretically make anything in Second Life, but most of what's made is terrible.

Probably a poor choice of word when discussing the LHC. ;

I am a bit worried about that as well. I know its early but after seeing a couple hundreds of these they all sort of seem like the same thing. I am sure...SURE it will blow up as time goes on but it just doesn't seem that cool to me right now and I am not even sure why.

I actually dig the core part of LBP (the actual "game") more than the user-created stuff - so if you're asking me, you have no worries.

I'm hoping LBP is the game which will get my girl to play co-op with me: right amount of cuteness, ease of gameplay mechanics, required cooperation, and relatively painless death process!

If reaction from my minimal-gaming g/f is any indication ("Aww... that's cute! And it's so awesome! Can I play?") then you shouldn't have a problem.

That Planet Express Ship is awesome, but holy crap...the guys playing are pretty annoying. It's cool to hear them having so much fun, but don't yell so loud >_<.

I am so entirely stoked for this.
I love level editors.

I managed to get a beta code and have spent hours just going thru the user created levels, some of which are amazing. One guy did a Shadow of the Colossus level that completely blew my mind. It was complete with giant sky bridge, temple, and Agro falling to his doom.
Last night I started to dig into the level creation. Almost 2 hours later I'm still going thru tutorials. With each tutorial you complete the game unlocks new objects and tools. Most of these new unlocks have tutorials of their own, which unlocks more stuff. Rinse. Repeat.
Tonight I'm hoping to finish up the tutorials (if there is indeed and end to them) and actually try to build something.

The rinse/repeat made me stop doing the tutorials, thinking I will have to go through the exact same thing when the full game is released.

Yeah, that is gonna suck. Hopefully I'll be able to get through them quickly when the full game releases. My only gripe is I wish they weren't required to use a tool. I mean if I can use a string or spring, then I can probably figure out how to use elastic or rods.

Please please please don't let this put anyone off of this game. It is absolutely amazing in every way you can imagine. There's just a lot of tutorials, some necessary, others not so much.

Also, has anyone who has played this had random Japanese tutorials thrown in the mix? I was going through the language settings on my PS3 trying to figure out what the hell was wrong.

What you do with your Sackboy in the privacy of your home is entirely your business. Just don't let me know about it and I won't have to call Sackboy Protective Services.

I bought mine last August for this very game. Well this and MGS 4...it's going to be worth the wait...

The level editor looks cool and all but I doubt i'll do much with it. I too am buying it for the "game". Gaming stuff looks amazing what I have seen...I weep thinking I haven't been able to snag a beta code...

I'm so hard for this game.

This is just...wrong...interesting...but still so so wrong ;)
