The PC version of this is really quite a lot of fun. I recommend everyone check it out, it's free after all.
This looks to be a pretty spot on port of it as well.

Listening to this music cracked me the hell up. Reminded me of Robert Ashley on Gamers with Jobs a week ago.

Two reviews so far on Metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/psp/pangyafantasygolf). An 8.0 from IGN (http://psp.ign.com/articles/997/997372p1.html) and a 70 from Playstation magazine (US).

Well my curiosity got the best of me and I picked up Pangya: Fantasy Golf this weekend. Both Best Buy and Walmart had it, though I didn't see it at Gamestop. Haven't gotten a chance to play yet, but will sometime this week.

Have you played the Hot Shots Golf PSP games? I'm curious as to how this stacks up, as I'm just now almost at 100% on HSG: OT, one of the games I originally bought with my PSP almost 4 years ago, so I'll need a new golf game soon. :p

I haven't really played other golf games, so unfortunately I don't have much to compare it to. (The only ones I remember playing are a few rounds in Wii Sports and some NES Golf in Animal Crossing.)
Reviews say that it's generally pretty good, with tons to collect, but would have benefited from online play.

This is a GOLF game?!?
Good lord. If real golf were like this, more people would watch.

Siliconera (http://www.siliconera.com/2009/07/07/fantasy-golf-pangya-aiming-for-the-green/) has their review/playtest up.Fantasy Golf Pangya is a great addition to the North American PSP game library. It’s a lot of fun to play for novices and advanced players, whether or not they’re fans of the genre. It’s bright, colorful and, thanks to the auto-save, a great game to play in spurts. If it had online multiplayer and more than 2 characters available initially, I’d consider it a must-buy PSP game. As is, it’s a title that I’d strongly recommend, even to people who don’t normally play sports games.

I really think the characters (especially the caddies) in the game are pretty funny, and I like the overall theme, so maybe it's time I finally checked this game out.
Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to register. The guide says to do it on the homepage, but my dumb ass can't find anything. :(
EDIT: Still can't find where to register, unless you have to do it on the Korean page. Hmm.

The mechanics of the PC game are nice, but the community is god-awful. Since it is basically a golf MMO, I can't recommend it due to the general hostility I encountered there. The portable and console ports have been pretty solid.

Can you just play matches by yourself, or is it always with other people?

With the PC version, I think it is always with other people. I'm not really sure, but that is how you make money in the game, so I'd assume so. I only played it for like a day a couple of years ago.

I should've specified that the American version has a different name. It's called Albatross18.
EDIT: Nope, apparently I'm wrong, Albatross closed, and now it's with Ntreev themselves. Link is here, but I haven't played in a long time: http://pangya.ntreev.net/
