View Full Version : Introducing the first Selectable Theme

If you scroll wayyy to the bottom of the page, you'll see a dropdown. Select "Lights Out" and you'll be treated so some different colors!
This one is for everyone who prefers a darker color scheme. As the current scheme is very, very bright, I figured I should make everyone else feel a little better.
Buttons are incomplete, things might get tweaked here and there. As with everything, it's a work in progress.

Excellent, now when I'm skulking around on my computer at night, I won't get nightblind, but I also can look vaguely legitimate when I surf during the day. Thanks!

Nice, but I would prefer the text a little brighter...helpful when I'm surfing in the dark...naked.

I know I said I was a fan of the default color scheme, but I REALLY like the way this one looks, especially with the logo at the top (which is extremely awesome, by the way).

Love that theme. It does match the banner perfectly.
BTW. You guys are doing a hell of a bang-up job getting this place all phenomenal and all that. Just wanted to say that :)

I enjoy it! My boyfriend (/roommate) fell asleep early, so I'm on the computer with the lights off, and this is way easier on the eyes.
Thanks a ton! :)

The thing I hate about these themes is the icons, which are outlined in white, look like ass. The quote button, in particular, is jarring to the eye; it looks as if someone hastily cut-out the icons and pasted them on top of the darker colors. PiRi is the same way.

Are you just trying to not pay attention?
In the FIRST POST of this thread he said the buttons were incomplete and that he was working on it.

Wow, and then I get down to the quick reply box and bam, box of bright grey. :)
I was thinking of sticking with a light colored site but this new theme rocks, I think I'll be sticking with it until your next theme comes out. Great job!!

It wasn't mentioned here but for those of you that don't know, you can go to User CP, click on Edit Options and if you scroll all the way to the bottom you can set that theme as your default.

It goes perfectly with the banner and it's really attractive (once the buttons have been change to match). I'd still like to see something a bit brighter, though not as piercingly bright as the default.
Great work. :P

I think the goal is to have at least a couple of themes to choose from. We're striving to make CoG as personal an experience as we can.
Think about it - selectable themes, depending on how you feel at any given moment. How fucking RAD is that???

I'm so loving CoG. Keep up the great work, guys. Seriously.
I'm not too keen on the grey around the reply box, or the colour under the 'View First Unread' link. Otherwise I like the scheme, although I may stick with the default until the buttons are complete. I'm impressed at how fast this happened, although that may simply come from how much I hate using the vBulletin theme editor thingy.

Text could be a bit brighter -- I'm not a big fan of the grey-on-black -- and the reply text box needs some work, but it looks really good overall.
As others have noted, it works beautifully with the banner.

Are you guys planning on making this the "default" theme for new people to the site? It looks so much better than the Default theme that I thinking leaving Default as the "default" is doing the site a slight disservice.

If this became default then the buttons need to be fixed first. Not to be a stickler but you can really see the white outline. I do prefer this layout though.

Sorry if this has been brought up elsewhere, but my theme keeps going back to Lights Out, when I've selected Default Style. I guess when I change it back, the setting doesn't "stick" the next time I log on. (I don't know if it's on every login, or every new session or what, but it seems to go back to Lights Out quite often, over the last couple weeks.) Is this just a result of further updates/testing that we should expect for a while, or is this a bug that shouldn't be happening?
pheriannath
10-21-2008, 09:31 AM
Your chosen template should stick whenever you log in - if it's switching on you, try logging out and clearing your cache/cookies to see if it helps. If it's still bugging, it's a bug and we'll look into it.

(There's maybe some session setting that changes it back?) I will try a cache/cookie cleanup on all four sometime this week.

Yeah, I don't really care if it's the default theme (maybe the name of the Default Style needs to change), I just need the forum to stick which the one I've chosen.
