What do people think of this series? Wondering if I should pick it up.

You know at first I didn't think I would enjoy the series, but the more that I've watched it the more it's grown on me really. The animation is not that bad and they are fitting in folks I didn't think I would see appear in the series. Such as Spiral, Mojo, and Hulk.

I'd say give it a shot if you enjoy the X-men series. While there is a focus on Wolverine, it's still diverse enough among the other X-men.

I watched most of the first season over the fall (Canada FINALLY gets something first) and I wasn't terribly impressed. It's not bad, per se. I just don't like the animation. The stories aren't bad, but it's hampered by what looks like a throwback to mid-90's animation styles and a general low-budget feel... at least when I compare it to something like Spectacular Spiderman, which has the polish and look of something recent.

It's more on par with the recent Fantastic Four cartoon in my books. Not bad, but not great.

I wish the bright bulbs at Marvel would take a look at what DC does with its properties when it comes to animation. Again, Spectacular Spidey seems to be nailing that hyper-stylized, well-written, punchy kind of feel that you get from a lot of the DC cartoons. Sadly, it's about the only thing that Marvel has put out over the past several years that really seems to be striving to be more than a mid-budget effort.

I watched the first couple of episodes and thought they were okay, but not great. I kind of want to see more before passing judgment though.

Maybe you should rent it?

Can't rent stuff here. :( Is it comparable to the 90s version? That didn't have the greatest animation quality but the stories had some meat in it.

I saw this...and it seemed a little fucked up to me. The art stylization is a step backwards from the series that aired in the early 90s. However I think it uses some of the same voices, which is cool, such as for Beast and Cyclops who had perfectly cast voices.

...but the whole concept just doesn't seem right. Wolverine just is not a leader...he's too impulsive and prone to act on emotion, it's such an obviously stupid choice, Cyclops was always, er IS the groups moral and authoritative compass and it fit perfectly with his character...ugh, yeah like I said, fucked up.

edit, yeah I also saw an episode where they went to go face Magneto on Genosha...Iceman is all like "Wolverine has his number!" While Wolverine flew the X-jet ugh...also ridiculous.

um..HURRRR...metal on his bones? did everyone suddenly become extremely dense this this setting? and then Magneto is all like "oh, you should have just asked...I don't mind you X-men who stand for the exact opposite of what I stand for..."

sigh* eah, it ends up just being pretty damn average.

I am kinda sick of Wolverine. He's everywhere. If you're looking for some fun superhero cartoon, the new Batman show running on CN is great.

The latest episode can be seen here.

Wasson: Going by your post, I'm gonna miss it. Doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the original series.

muddi900: Hey thanks for the heads up, didn't realize it was out!

I'm actually really hanging out for the new GI Joe cartoon.
