Book your vacation, the 10th anniversary of Coachella (http://www.coachella.com/)is coming!

My girlfriend and I hummed and hawed for a few moments last night after I got the email announcing the dates for next year. Being a teacher, it's hard for her to take time off from her class...but you can't avoid the call of Coachella...and the desert heat :)

April 17th, 18th, and 19th...be there...or be elsewhere!

I live maybe a 3 to 4 hours away. I could always go, as I knew at least one person going each year. Sadly, I usually don't care enough to go.

Y'all are such posers! When I lived in Palm Springs I went to see Pearl Jam in that exact same field in 1993. :D Gotta to see Eddie get hit in the face with a shoe, too. I was crushed up front so I had a great view! lol

Uh, where are you seeing the 2009 line-up? I'm only seeing 2008 there now.

Bollocks. I guess its too early to see who is playing then. Got me all excited.

We can speculate who the headliners will be, though. (PHISH?!)

Speculation is rampant on the website...For this years show, the list didn't really get released until January.

For me, it's not just the music, but the fun in the sun (helps when the gf's parents have a house down there ;))

Not quite the venue for them, but I would sure love to see them get back together again.

Line up is supposed to be released today...

I already have my flight booked. My gf's parents live in Palm Desert, so worse comes to worse, it will at least be a few days in the sun, if I am not enamoured by the lineup.

I am going to try to go this year as well. Assuming the lineup is up to par, (which it usually is).

I figure that it's just such a great deal for the price of the tickets. I found a bunch of bands last year that I hadn't really heard of, but hearing them live made me a fan.

Nothing better than relaxing in the sun (as I stare at the snow outside) during the day, then heading off to the event site in the afternoon to spend the evening listening to music and soaking up the strangeness of this event.

Why does this have to be two weeks before finals?

Though, Restlessavenger, if you are planning to go, let me know so we can maybe plan something out.

It has to be 2 weeks before finals so it can be the day before my Birthday.

:(

That's last years lineup...for some reason they're delaying this year's announcement due to some last minute big band signings or something.

As for last year, Gogol was beyond awesome and Tegan and Sara are always great ;)

I think I saw something about Patton doing Coachella with someone....I want to say it was Coachella.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Don't you kids have your Ozzfest or whatever?

Night 1 and 2 look like they should be amazing. While there are a couple of artists on night 3 that I would like to see... I could skip a lot of it.

I expect night number 2 to get somebody else. Even night not 3. Neither the Cure nor the Killers really seem like headliners to me...Then again, my brother loves the Cure, so he would probably disagree.

Friday night is a must for me, if only to see Leonard Cohen.

(I also added the poster to the front page of this topic)

I stand corrected, there is metal....Mastodon, Henry Rollins and The Cure. It's ok though, I'll be enjoying Music as a Weapon 4 the weekend before that.

Yeah, Patton & Rahzel surprisingly... for me at least. I haven't been keeping up with him recently.

I won't be at Coachella but I will have to find some of their material, very curious what kind of sound those two would do together. Hopefully it's not just an hour of both them doing interpretive scat together...

I'm actually really interested to see Rollins perform. I've been to as many of his spoken word tours as I'm able, but I have never seen him sing...though to be honest, I haven't really followed his singing career for the last few years.

I'm hoping to find a bunch of fun new bands this year because I can't honestly say I know I a lot of the smaller bands listed.

Paul McCartney and Franz Ferdinand on the same night? I think I want to go now. The Killers are actually pretty high profile, not surprising to see them as a headliner. But I seriously doubt Amy Winehouse would be good, much less coherent and not completely blitzed and/or batshit insane. Henry Rollins, I hear, is pretty cool to see live. The Cure and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs would be nice to see, but I have school on Monday morning, so it wouldn't kill me if I didn't see anything Sunday night.

Amy Whinehouse is worthy just for the spectacle that may occur...

Leonard Cohen? Girl Talk? The Killers? Amy?

My god. Those first two days are just full of excellence.
