I... uhm...
Dammit! Tell 'em Chris!
The Demoman's Last Remnant Demo review. (http://www.firstpersonshouter.com/?p=199)
Thankfully, I died at some point, which was pretty easy to understand, for a change. I know games these days are often criticized for too much hand-holding, but I think some amount, especially in a game like this, is necessary. After all, every game is someone’s first game, and every demo is someone’s first demo, and if The Last Remnant demo is someone’s first demo, then I wouldn’t be surprised if it was also their last. Demo.
I don’t know how to rate this demo — I don’t even know what this demo is or what it means or who I am or when I ever was whatever I were.
You might think that this is all humour, but that's the sad part : Its not.
So much for me getting into JRPGs/tacticals.

Okay, so, the battle is over, and the several people or things that appeared suddenly to help me fight have disappeared again. I really am just completely baffled.
Luckily, things start making sense soon after the battle, when I touch a stone and a magical goblin pops out of my butt, gives me a blowjob, hands me some weed, and vanishes up my nose. If you think I’m kidding, or if you can offer some other interpretation of these events, please watch this YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQIAimQ65ww) video I uploaded and let me know.Oh holy crap, I just spent the last few minutes laughing at this.
The game interests me a little but, so I was thinking about trying the demo out. Maybe I'll pass though. If it just dumps you in without giving you the slightest clue what to do I probably wouldn't enjoy it. Maybe I can find someone who'll let me borrow the full version to give it a try.

If it's like the 360 version (and this appears to be a cave fight a couple steps beyond the "tutorial" missions) then you'll pick it up easy enough.
Though the part you linked, was fucking hilarious.

I played the demo twice and thought it was horrible. I run well over the system requirements and the high end settings made the game run choppy as hell. The demo just wasn't fun or interesting. I want to support Square in the move to PC and digital distribution but not with this game.

I heard that the game was supposed to run better on a pc...part of my reason for giving it a miss on the 360...I guess that isn't the case then.
I've downloaded the demo, but the urge to try it is dying.

The demo ran fine for me on max details, hate the frequent but brief loading times.

I had a great time with the demo, personally. It seems like this game was designed to appeal precisely to me.

I guess I exaggerated a bit, it wasn't choppy as hell (except in combat where it really was) but it was choppy. I'm not sure but it felt like the frame rate would stutter when I had max details at 16x12 or 1280x1024 but dropping it down to medium it ran fine. In fact it didn't look that much different from max details. I just wasn't really that into the game play either.

I play it... Or at least I think I did...
Hadn't played a jrpg in ages, so I decided to give this a try.
No idea what was going on, No idea what the controls were, No idea what it was all about.
Really, is it so hard to include a tutorial?

Despite my mocking, I decided to give the demo a try. And yep, it dumps you into the deep-end head first. It took me forever just to figure out how to start a fight. And I had no clue how to equip anyone (turns out you can't), or what most of the things on the screen meant.
But after a while, I started to get the hang of things. Sorta. I still had no clue what 90% of the stuff did, or what most of the stats meant (Trivia? That's a stat?), but I managed to grasp the basics of the combat.
Once I started to get the hang of it, I was actually having fun! I finished out those caves, then explored a ruined mansion and right afterwards did a quest there. Which had a seriously pain in the ass boss fight.
Overall, I might end up grabbing this when it's released. It was definitely different, I'll say that! It all depends on what I have to play (and whether I have money for it!) Or maybe I'll save it for the lost, game drought of the summer. Maybe it'll drop in price before then...

That video had me in tears.
I seriously thought he was lying, but that was summed up pretty well.
