Fans of the Tomb Raider series have been waiting anxiously for this fall's Tomb Raider: Underworld. Now gamers on the 360 have even more to look forward to with it's release: exclusive downloadable content.

First up is Tomb Raider: Underworld - Beneath the Ashes, slated for release around Christmas. Set after the events of the game, Beneath the Ashes promises a new environment in which to fight new enemies. The second, Tomb Raider: Underworld - Lara's Shadow, is scheduled for early 2009 and the developer promises "a new kind of playable character and create a unique Tomb Raider experience". Eidos claims the packs will add "up to six hours of new gameplay and content" between the two packs. Pricing for the packs were not announced at this time.

Tomb Raider: Underworld should be in stores on November 18th for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, DS, and PS2. A demo for the game should be forthcoming this month.

It seems silly to release exclusive content on a franchise that already has like 60 iterations. It's not exactly a franchise lacking exposure enough to warrant more content in a single shot.

Sounds interesting but i'm not going to hold my breath waiting for the dlc. they always claim dlc is coming but its never out while the game is still popular/being played. Didn't they say there was going to be DLC content for Legend, other than the epsiodic anniversary edition'?

Did they ever release the exclusive DLC for GTA4? I haven't heard peep about that in a long time.

In any case, the exclusive DLC thing makes me crazy. It's the same thing as a console exclusive game. Why release it on only one system and limit your market? (Unless you are getting a nice tip from Microsoft or Sony)

Don't quote me on this but I believe that the GTA4 DLC is going to be released when the PC version of GTA4 comes out.

The GTA4 DLC hasn't been released yet (the first of two is set for sometime before the end of the year) and as far as I know it's not coming to the PC.

As for this, I thought 6 hours of content for 2 DLC packs was pretty skimpy, until I realized that it probably doubles the length of the base game.

More TR? That's all I need to know. It can't be ever overexposure for me...

I am not interested in hearing about DLC for games that are not out or that are just released. I don't even know if the game will be good or not. . . there will be a lot of swimming, but will it be fun?

I'm always a little leery when it comes to announcing DLC before a game comes out, because I feel like they're intentionally holding this stuff back to get an extra $10-$20 out of me. It's a bit of a catch-22 because if I enjoy the game, I'd love to see more content, but if I feel like they're just using it to charge me $80 for the game instead of $60 I'll feel ripped off.

I mean, shouldn't DLC be something that's announced after the game comes out to see if it's even warranted. If they only sell 30,000 copies of the game, will they really even finish the DLC and release it? Will it be worth it to the publisher to do that? For GTAIV, they knew they would sell a crap ton of copies, so it was a foregone conclusion that the DLC would be somewhat profitable. Here... who knows how it will turn out?

Was this playable at PAX? Will it be at TGS? Anyone touch even an early build that can attest for it's mediocrity?

I have to pay between $90 and $110 AUS for a new 360 game. So finding out about DLC before a game is released is worrying, for the games I love, DLC will be hard to turn down.

I don't have a problem with all things DLC, but a game would want to have a fair bit of depth before I even hear talk of it. Talking about it before a game is released makes me wonder whether they are really confident with their rock solid development, or whether they have an incomplete game that they will try to nickel and dime people with. A 6 to 8 hour game with DLC just doesn't cut it.

This sucks.

This is one of my most anticipated games right now and I really wanted to get the PC version, but now I probably can't if I want to be able to play all available content.

I've been playing TR on PC since the first game, so I always get a great nostalgia kick by doing so with the new ones. Legend was the only one I played on console, and it just wasn't as fun as Anniversary for me because of it.

Exclusive DLC has to be one of the worst ideas for gamers around.

Well, call me happy. I'm generally wary of DLC, but at least I'm glad I'll at least have the option of more TR. I'm a huge Legend/Anniversary fan.

Why not just release it on one system if you are going to play favorites.
