LittleBigPlanet is one of the most anticipated games coming this fall on Sony's PlayStation 3 - and the folks at Co-Optimus (http://www.co-optimus.com) were lucky enough to get into the beta to check out the cooperative play.

Will life on the LBP be better with your friends?
The full game will feature a story based adventure, and during that adventure there are specific sections clearly marked for co-op play. Whether it's puzzles or vehicles or whatever; you'll have to have at least one other person to participate in the challenge. For the user created content in the beta, I really didn't find any levels specifically written for cooperative play. The potential is there though to really do some cool things, and hopefully the story mode will bring inspiration to level designers to come up with clever uses of co-op.

Check out the full preview (http://www.co-optimus.com/preview/84/LittleBigPlanet_Co-Op_Hands_On_Preview_and_Video.html) to find out how things are shaping up, and stick around for an exclusive co-op video too!

I want to get into co-op gaming, maybe LBP is going to be the gateway game that pushes me to do it.

LBP is the game that finaly makes me want a PS3.

MS should have done their avatars like the sackboy. Far more customizations and fun. Not looking as human would make them less freaky.

Can't wait. If I could only get one game the rest of this year I think it would be LBP. Can't wait to see what kind of levels some of the folks around here come up with.

All I care about is unlocking that sweet Jeff Green Trophy.

Like only a tiny bit interested. But I might move on it just to get Kratos sack-man.

Well, it did for me. I never play co-op, but this game makes it soooo easy to just jump in and fuck around with it. I played a dozens times with random 4 players already, it's great fun. Trying too communicate without headsets is also a hoot.

I got a chance to play the beta at a friend's house last night (couldn't get a key myself). We just played 2 player and didn't try creating anything, but that's OK because there's a ton of user-created stuff out there to enjoy anyway. It's not the most refined platformer action in the world, but the sackboys really are adorable and you can animate them so much with a few flicks of the sticks or tilts of the controller. We probably spent a good half hour just running around in our pod, posing and playing with the facial expressions and the like.

The game itself is simple enough that anyone can play it. X jumps and R grabs things to drag or swing from.... that's pretty much it. The rest of the enjoyment just comes from the world itself, and the levels within.... which can be as easy or as maddeningly difficult as you like.

My 2 hours with the beta didn't even scratch the surface of what the game has to offer, and if anything all it really did was make me want the release day to come that much sooner.
