Atari and Starbreeze have provided us with the newest trailer for the upcoming Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Slated for the 360, PS3 and PC, this game is a "reimagined" version of the previous Escape from Butcher Bay and will include a new single player chapter as well as, for the first time, multiplayer. The voice cast will include Vin Diesel, Lance Henricksen and Michelle Forbes.

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena will be released on April 7th, for the 360, PS3 and PC.

The only thing I don't like about that release date is the fact that I'm going to be on a business trip then.

I can't wait. I loved the first one. I think this game definitely needed a HD makeover.

April 7th is close. This is going to be a fantastic game. Wonder whether I should get it on PC or 360..

Hell yeah, looks like there's even more Mech suit fights. Can't wait for this. I love the Riddick universe, and this looks like it might be good just to get to see the story, like even if it were just a movie, I'd be excited.

That looks awesome!

Makes me want to go pick up Butcher Bay to see what I missed out on. I think everyone has always agreed it was a great game, but I never grabbed it.

The first Riddick game is included and tweaked for the 360??

Well, I'm a bit of a Pitch Black/Riddick nerd...Twohy has had a LOT of contact with Starbreeze, so the story from Butcher Bay? Awesome. It ties into the movies almost seamlessly, with the merc from Pitch Black, Johns, delivering Riddick to the slam.

Also, props to Diesel, who does NOT phone in his performance just because it's VO work. (Another great example is Iron Giant, where he plays the eponymous giant).

Lastly, Starbreeze showed everyone what was possible on the XBOX. Before Riddick, the use of normal mapping was still in its infancy, but Starbreeze made the game look BADASS. Starbreeze are a bunch of Swedish mad geniuses.

Can't wait for this game. :)

I loved the Darkness and never played the original off this.

= instant buy.

Let's hope these guys make some money with it. Starbreeze is one rocking studio.

So this is basically the whole original game, plus (from what I've read) some pretty substantial new content? That's amazing. Total buy it.

This will essentially double the length of the first game, as well as completely updating the graphics and gameplay of the first half to be on par with the second. They rebuilt BB from the ground up basically.

Did you play the first one? Depending on how they do it, the melee aspects could be amazing in multiplayer...

The Darkness MP was a disaster. So I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I see it being much like Splinter Cell Chaos Theory's multiplayer (Or maybe it was Double Agent, I forget). Which was pretty fun. Throw in some multiplayer hand to hand combat with some stealth kills and I can see it being great.

It feels like this title has been "coming" for a helluva long time now...hope it's as awesome as the original, but I don't expect much from the mp.

Gametrailers has some MP vids. I'm too lazy to embed them so go check it out. One game looks ok, but it's all mediocre and probably should have been left on the cutting room floor. Starbreeze should just leave it alone. If Bioshock can get away with it, The Darkness could have. And surely both Riddick campaigns could have.
