Get your minion-whippin hand ready. We're heading back to the world of Overlord this June in a big way. Codemasters has announced that they'll be shipping three Overlord games this June.
First is Overlord II (as seen above, click the image for more screens) the sequel to the original is slated for the 360, PS3 and PC. In this sequel your Minions will be smarter and fiercer that before. They've also learned to ride various creatures around the world, as well as operate war machines.
Also coming in June are Overlord Dark Legend for the Wii and Overlord Minions for the DS. Expect the same dark humor from the original, but tailored to the unique control schemes for these systems.
All three titles will ship in June.

I adore the original Overlord and can't wait for more.

I can see some real potential with the stylus for the DS version.

I'm excited about this one too. I just hope I don;t have to spend so much time fighting arena battles to replenish troops in this one.

As long as my minions can still use scooped out slug heads for helmets.

Same here. I always felt that the first game was brilliant, but just ever so slightly flawed in some key departments and in need of a bit of tweaking. Definitely the kinds of things sequels normally take care of though, so I have high hopes for this one.

I demoed it and didn't like it, but with a stylus...I might.
I just don't really dig the "send people here to do X....send them there to do Y" game play. I'm not an RTS fan, and while this is NOT an RTS, and I'm well aware of that, there's a similarity that I don't enjoy.

I loved Overlord so a second sounds fun. The first always felt like it had a LOT more poteintial (even though it was a great game) so I'm hopeful for what they've gotten out of it.

Same here! I actually restarted it not too long ago with the intention of going through to the end and got sidetracked... again.

Is there a reason that Triumph Studios (the developer) never gets credited in these press releases? I bring this up every time Overlord is mentioned, because people always talk about the publisher (Codemasters), but never the developer (Triumph Studios). This isn't the case with most other games.
I guess it stands out to me because Triumph Studios is one of my favorite development houses, so to see them get no credit for their work is frustrating.

Is Triumph doing all versions? Wii / DS / 360 / PS3?

You know, I don't think the studio was mentioned in the press release at all. I usually try to credit them, but I just forgot this time.

The original was an overlooked gem. Hopefully this one retains the charm and humor, and adds enough new layers to keep it fresh.

I think they are just doing the PC/360/PS3 version, but I don't know for sure.

It's definitely not your fault. They aren't mentioned in the trailer either.
I hope that Triumph Studios is getting a decent amount of money out of these games, because they are definitely not getting any recognition. :(

Overlord was one of those titles I would have liked to play, but other games always took priority and I never ended up buying it.
I may have to check it out. It'll be dirt cheap pre-owned now I imagine.

It's on Steam for $20. I'm not sure how much the console versions are going for these days.
I picked it up a while back during the Steam sale.

Overlord is the game that got me to subscribe to GameTap. I think the first month was $1, and I was done with it easily before then.

Smarter minions eh? I don't like it. Smarter minions eventually leads to a rebellion.
