As the subject says. What game did you play for the longest in a single sitting. If its with pals, how long was the longest time 1 person put in.
Dreamcast 24 hours Lemans race was my first long game
Then Mass Effect
Beat it in 28.3 hours without stopping.

I can't recall times but Final Fantasy Tactics when it first came out on the PSone kept me going for a long time before I stopped. To the point where when friends came over I told them they had to go so I could focus more in the game.

I'm probably a lightweight compared to some, but when Steel Battalion: Line of Contact first hit I was online playing for about 10 hours straight.

The longest gaming session I've put myself through was my first LAN party. I lasted about six hours, then fatigue overpowered me. At home I can stand maybe three hours, then I have to go take a walk or something. You people who can pull thirty-odd hour sessions... are you robots?

For three days straight, I played Morrowind all day until I couldn't stay awake any longer. I fell asleep right there (I played sitting on the bed) and woke up the next day and started all over again.
That game had me so hooked. I used to actually lie to my boyfriend and tell him someone needed to use the phone so I could hang up and get back to playing. >.>

Hrm, almost 24 hours. It started 8am-ish on Sunday morning with some 16player Halo (two teams in different rooms.) We'd start with an hour or so of killcount rounds to see who were the good players were, then an epic CTF (sometimes single-flag assault, AssFlag,) game that would last 4/5 hours, a few more quick killcount games for new leaders, another CTF game. Then about half of us would play Munchkin a few times and the number would whittle down. When it was about four or five of us left we'd play poker until early morning, then we'd go get food at Denny's or some similar diner.
Then it would be Monday morning, and we'd shower and go to (computer programming) class.
Damn I miss those days... It happened every weekend.

Longest straight has to be FF3(VI). I played for 3 straight days without sleep, only getting up to eat, use the bathroom, or remind myself that I wasn't dead.
There are many after that could have been longer (Like FFT), but I wouldn't do something like that again. After that episode I started reminding myself it would still be there when I woke up. ;)
Second place goes to UO. Started playing a Friday night...through Saturday, and up to about 4 pm Sunday. Part of the reason I avoid MMOs now.

Being honest - I think I played GTA IV for about 9 hours the day it came out. I was living by myself at the time, got home from work and had the next day off; figured I'd play it until I physically couldn't stay awake.
My brother, my friend and I want to try one of the "Beat 3 games in 48 hours" challenges with the first 3 Resident Evil games. Hopefully we can get that together sometime in the next couple months.

Beating Resident Evil 1-3 in 48 hours should be cake. I know that RE1 would take me about 1h30m (I've done less, too) back when I played it a lot. I could see a run through with Leon and Claire taking about two hours each. It's been awhile since I've played 3, but I can't picture it taking anymore than five hours. I need to play those again. I loved them so much when they came out, but the controls feel so awkward to go back to again.
As for myself, Kat pretty much stole my story. When I got Morrowind for the Xbox I played it nonstop. It was all I could think about whenever I was away from the Xbox, and when I was playing I only stopped to sleep. I would leave the game on, put the controller down, pass out, and then wake up and start going again. Such a fantastic game.
Oh, and there were times I would ignore talking to her on IM or some such just so I could go play some more. 8-P

Hmm... maybe I should pick up 4 on the cheap and throw that on the pile, too. We're planning on doing all the Gamecube versions of them - that should be fun. The only weird thing is that RE2 comes on one disc, while RE3 comes on two. No clue why that is - shouldn't it be the other way around?

4 could add close to 20 hours to your session, depending on how familiar you are with it (I never speed ran that one, and have no clue what you can get it down to). I just checked, and RE2 and 3 are both 1 disc for the GCN. RE0, REmake, and Code Veronica X are all 2 discs.

Ahh... it's REmake that I was thinking of, then. Why is that on 2 discs, anyhow - is there really that much more content than the original, or what?

I didn't research it or anything, but my guess would be because of the graphics. REmake is all pre-rendered, and I assume all of those environments take up a lot of space on the relatively small GCN discs. I could be wrong, though.

Epic 8 player game on Rise of Nations. Lasted about 13-14 hours.
The worst part was that after all that time I didn't even win. I lasted right until the end, but by the time it came down to a 1 on 1, I had almost no army left.
But to this day, RoN along with DoW and RA2 are the only RTS games I've ever had fun with.

I beat HL2 in one sitting when it was first released. ~20 hours. Kinda to see if I could do it, kinda cause I just didn't want to stop.
I've also been to 72 hour LAN parties, though they would usually have short breaks for eating, and maybe playing some poker.

Morrowind, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Disgaea, Tales of Symphonia and Mass Effect have all had me play from when I woke up until I went to bed, literally. Like up at 6 in the morning (I work early so I tend to wake up early) and start playing until I go to bed around midnight. So I guess around 16 hours a few times.
In middle school me and a friend used to play through Ocarina of Time in one sitting on the weekend regularly. We lost count of how many times at 24.
Oh yeah, and I beat Conker's BFD in one sitting as well.

The Legacy of Kain:Soul Reaver series. I always fire it up every 4-6 months 'cause the story's just that good. I start from Soul Reaver and end in Defiance, not including the Blood Omens. It takes me the weekend to finish it off.
Finishing the games hurts every time, though, because the story never does. :cries:

Ultima Online - Abyss server...
I don't know exactly how long I played, but it was a long fucking time. Probably at least two days straight. It ended when I got up from my chair to get the Sunday breakfest that my parents always make, got to the kitchen, and literally passed out onto the floor as I was reaching for my plate (which I was going to take by to my room to eat while playing). I woke up about ten seconds later, according to them, and they were freaking out. Demanded that I get some sleep.
The Abyss was fuckwin.

At least 30 hours without sleep. There may have been occasions that were 48, but I honestly don't remember.
HOWEVER, I have played games so long that when i do finally sleep, my dream has a game interface. I recall having a CIV 3 & 4 interface and a Starcraft interface more than a few occasions. Dreaming In-Game is a real trip - but no XP.
Most recently I played WAR for 14 hours, I'm getting old.

Numerous 12+ hour sessions of various Civ games, the longest probably being the first time I played Alpha Centauri, won a transcendence victory in one sitting, around 16 hours. It took a lot longer because I was reading/listening to every single quote and watching all the cutscenes.

I should make you feel better then, Jackel. The longest I've sat in one sitting was the day I got Maniac Mansion for my C64. A friend and I beat it in about 5 hours on our first go around. Of course, the turnaround time for a reload after accidentally destroying the house in a nuclear explosion was just shy of 5 minutes...

Thirty-six hours playing Dragon Quest (well..Warrior) IV when it first came out for the NES.
Since then? I don't really go on gaming binges like that. I find I don't enjoy them after a while. Maybe 4-5 hours playing Rock Band when I first got it, I did 6 playing Lost Odyssey.
Other than that, I mean I'm logged into WoW a lot, culminating with our weekly raids, but a lot of the time I'm not actually playing. I'm waiting for someone to require healing :)

About 24 hours on Civ4 is my single game record, although my longest gaming session was around 30 at a LAN.
Civ4 has provided me the most entertainment/dollar of any game I've ever bought, minimum of 250 hours logged so far, followed closely by TES 3&4.

When I first got Star Wars Galaxies, my first MMO, I got totally into it, and played all Friday and into the next morning. Probably 20 hours in all, with breaks for food and the bathroom.
Other than that, I've had a few six hour sessions with WoW, Morrowind, and the Battlefield games, but I always force myself to take a break and go for a walk or read or something.
I kind of wish I went to one of those big weekend-long LAN events. They sound intense from the way you guys describe them.

Sometimes I wish I could play for that many hours straight, but I wouldn't be surprised if my max was somewhere around 6-8 hours. After a while a little voice just starts nagging me to stop.
I've had some long periods where I've played the same game all day, or all weekend, etc, but they've generally been interrupted by a large dinner break, or a trip outside.

Wow, you guys are pretty epic.
Probably my record is for Kingdom Hearts. It was summer break and I was spending the night with a friend who had bought the game, and I stayed up most of the night playing and was playing again when he got up in the morning to go to work. And I was still there when he came home for lunch. And still playing when he got off work. And still playing when he went to bed.
My wife was on a business thing about three or four years back and I had that week off of work. I picked up FFXI (my first MMO) and when she got home the following week I had just over five days played. That's the longest and most I've ever played something and introduced me to my OCD.

I played Guild Wars for 32 hour (awake for 36) and Rainbow Six: Vegas for 16. Those are the two longest I can remember. I did play 12 hours straight in 2 task forces in earlier City of Heroes when I was in 5th grade though :). I started hardcore at an early age.
I have probably had several 8-12 hour sessions of Guild Wars in my history with that game.

I played FFXI for 3 months straight, 12-16 hours a day. I had to quit cold turkey; I told my guild mates that I was quitting right there and proceeded to give away all of my money and items, exit, then deleted my characters.

How did you do that? The fastest I could manage was 20 hours, and that was me doing a speed run and skipping all the cutscenes. No deaths, no game reloads. However, I broke that game up into several days.

That's more or less what I did save for the 12-16 hour bits. I had a Samurai whom I still miss to this day but I gave away all of my stuff and never looked back. Until I bought WoW. It's a vicious vicious cycle.

The second time I played through Deus Ex on the PC, I did it in one sitting. I started at like 11:30am after eating lunch and completed it around 1:30 in the morning, skipping dinner. So that comes out to 14 hrs straight.
That is by far the worst I've ever done. I was dropped off at college 3 days before classes started (and two days before my other friends arrived back) so I had all the free time in the world. Now, I game in small burst: 15 minutes to 2 hours tops.

Earlier I said Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. What I did there was a little different than what the original question asked. BG: DA was a one session playthrough that we estimated to be about 9 hours. We (said BG partner) then started talking about a particular Diablo session we had once. 18 hours easy.

I've had many typical 16+ hour sessions, the kind where you wake up and do nothing but play, eat & poop until you go to bed again. It has been many years since the last time I did this though. :sadface
The longest sessions I've had have been playing hotseat with friends (taking turns). UFO: Enemy Unknown was played in this manner for maybe 24 hours straight, and I believe the record belongs to Stonekeep (old forgotten RPG). I and a friend played this continuously for more than 30 hours I think, starting early moning one day and stopping in the afternoon the day after.
Related story:
I was so tired I fell off a chair during this session. To smoke I had to stand on a chair and stick my head out a window high up on the wall, and without noticing I started slowly falling backwards. When I finally noticed my position had changed for the worse I started clawing at the window still, but could not get a grip on it - then I contemplated grabbing the curtain rod, but decided I would only rip it off the wall and break stuff. So in my quiet mind I thought "fuck it" and fell. On my way down I grazed my friends dresser with my ribs (still got the scar) then smashed down unelegantly on the floor. Without turning his face away from the monitor my friend hazedly asked "What did you do now?" I told him and he said "Oh." Good times.

That's funny shit man, sucks for your pain, but funny none the less. ;)
My greatest/weirdest non-injuring game moment came from sleeping. We decided one time years ago to get hammered and play CS all night when we were so drunk we could barely see.
A couple hours in, I just fell asleep at my keyboard. One of my buddies woke me up because I had been afk for like 2 maps and the other team let me stay in because...hey, free kill right? :D
He woke me up because I evidently at one point I killed someone while I was passed out. I guess my Enter key was still bound as a firing button, and I pushed it with my face...headshotting the guy who was about to knife me with my pistol. Real gamers kill in their sleep.

Though I haven't gamed as long or as intense as you guys, I've had a few long sessions. Most recent one is that I played Brawl for 24 hours straight after having a two hour nap from an eight hour Call of Duty 4 session. While this killed Brawl for me, it was fun at the time.
I've also beaten Halo 3 on legendary on launch day, played Tales of Symphonia for ten hours straight when it came out, and my friends and I beat the Endless Setlist twice on Rock Band.
I wish I had more gaming friends because I have yet to have a LAN party...:(

Never had a LAN party either, mainly because most of my friends are console gamers. Only one of us other than me actually has a PC worth playing games on. It sucks.
