So it is about 6 a.m. eastern and I am on my way out the door to work. After I post this thread of course :). My alarm has went off about 3-4 times this morning since 5 a.m. I stumbled from the bed to the bathroom and nearly fell into the toilet. I got dressed in my PT (physical training) uniform and sat down to read a bit on CoG. Now I am off to run 6 miles. I really don't want to this morning. I feel like crap but that is the nature of the beast. So what is your typical morning before work?

Apparantly i'm missing out on the morning routine by not falling in my toilet ;).
My morning routine varies. Sometimes it's spent with CoG. Othertimes it's with a video game. This morning I was at the gym at 4am. Of course I'm not working so I guess this is all moot...

Get up at 6:30, check the net for about 10 minutes. Have breakfast, about 20 minutes. Shower, dress, and pack, 30 minutes, leave around 7:30.

wake up, brush teeth, take shower, test blood sugar, eat breakfast, make lunch, head out the door.
That's my morning.

Stumble to my computer chair. Have a cigarette while it boots. Browse e-mail, CoG, whatever, while listening to a podcast/music for about 30 minutes. Then shower, dress and off to work.
This morning has the added task of me looking out the window, seeing it actually snowing again, and dying inside.

Get up when I can no longer stand constantly hitting snooze on the alarm, stagger to the bathroom, perform my ablutions, stagger back to the bedroom, throw on whatever clothes come to hand and hope they're mine, stagger downstairs and forage in the kitchen for a liquid that does not have alcoholic content, pull my boots on, hunt around for my car keys and pass card, realise I'm late and rush out to the car.
All of this is assuming Mrs Squid has already gotten up and gone to work.

I pretty much just roll out of bed, get my clothes together, hop in the shower, dress and then we're out the door. Girlfriend and I work on the same campus so we commute together. I don't have time for anything in the morning, just the basics. I eat at my desk at work, usually a Nutra-grain bar and water/coffee.

Alarm rings at 07:45. I turn it off, lie in bed for a few minutes, then get up. I urinate, wash my hands, then make breakfast (always cereal, right now its Weetabix and Nestle oat clusters (not on the same day)). Eat breakfast at table, wash up, sit in front of PC (which I turned on when I got out of bed). Browse favourite websites.
Go shower, get dressed, brush teeth, shave if its a monday, wednesday or friday, or if for some reason I've gone 1 day without shaving. Gel and style hair, get wallet, cellphone and keys, walk out door.
(theres more to it than that, but thats a pretty detailed account).
this morning I got up at 7:30 to collect forza 2 from the post office, after not being able to sleep last night for some reason. Not feeling too bad at work luckily enough. Hoping my Hori Arcade Stick arrives tonight.

My typical morning starts by waking up between seven and eight. At this point in time, I'm always freezing; my roommate insists on sleeping with a comforter before he complains that the res halls are too hot at night and opens the window to cool the room down. This morning, there was an added bonus of our room smelling like skunk, so I hung upside down out of my bed (it's lofted above the windows) and closed the window.
Then I get breakfast and go to class or work, depending on the day of the week.

I wake up at midnight, making me thirty minutes late already, then I grab a shower and drive less than a mile to work thinking "Shit."
I come in, grab either a strawberry cheesecake danish from the machine and some coffee, or some BBQ Rib potato chips from the same machine and a drink. Sit. Work. gTalk. Mostly work, surprisingly (to anyone who's talked to me.)

I always try to have two alarms set, one that I set to the time I want to actually wake up, and a backup that always goes off at 7am (and is out of reach) just in case I manage to turn the first one off while still asleep (happens a lot). I get up, go to the bathroom, then turn on the shower and usually sit on the floor outside the shower for 15 minutes or so and meditate/think about the upcoming day. Finally get in the shower for 5-10 minutes, get out and shave and brush teeth. Then I put on whatever clean work clothes I can find, take medications/vitamins with a glass of water, grab a granola bar and walk to work at 8:15 or so.
I really need to start doing some exercise in the mornings, I'm sure it would really boost my energy levels during the day, and of course help my fitness, which is terrible. The walk to work doesn't count as I live literally about 500 feet away from my job.

Oh good, I'm not the only one.
I first wake up around 7:30 when alarm #1 goes off. Hit the snooze and then again every 10 minutes or so. Around 8:00 alarm #2 goes off, and I know it's time to get up. I dress and pretty much right afterwards head into work (stupid 30min drive...). If I happen to work at 9 instead of 8:30 that morning, I might eat breakfast or grab another half hour of sleep. And I shower at night, so I don't have to worry about that in the morning.
As for why I have two alarm clocks, I am a very heavy sleeper. It got to the point where I would turn the alarm off rather than hit the snooze button, and all this without ever really waking up. So either I would miss class or I would get a call from work telling me to get my ass in there. So now I have the one alarm on top of the TV (far enough away that I actually have to get out of bed to hit it), and one in the opposite corner of the room, which doesn't have a snooze button ( I sorta melted it in high school, and then removed it later) It's worked like a charm ever since I set it up, glad I happened to have my old alarm clock!

Same. In high school, I settled for having a loud alarm halfway across the room. Since my current roommate is a light sleeper and wakes up at eleven thirty each day, I switched to having my cell phone alarm on vibrate inside my pillow, and my alarm clock set loud enough to wake up the surrounding rooms with hellish white noise, five minutes after the phone alarm, and out of reach of bed. Fear gets me out of bed to turn it off before it goes off.

When I lived in the dorms, my next door neighbor left her damn clock radio alarm set when she left for a few days, so that damn radio turned on at 8am one day and stayed on until she got back. It was really loud and tuned to some really shitty station, which I could hear clearly through the paper thin walls. Just remember to turn your damn alarm off if you ever leave for a while.
And what is it that people can't figure out about building a dorm/apartment with some damn sound insulation? It seems like you have to choose either sound from the vertical axis or sound from your sideways neighbors. In my dorm room, I could hear what my next door neighbors were thinking, but someone could have been playing basketball above me and I would never know. In my friends dorm, you could count how much change someone dropped on the floor above, but not hear a dance party next door. Why can't we get insulation on both axes at the same time?

My mornings are always identical:
- Alarm goes off at 6:45
- I hit snooze until 7:30
- Take a quick shower, dress, feed the dog, out the door by 8:00
- Arrive at work at 8:15
- Eat a poptart at my desk while I read emails and CoG
Always a good start to the day.

I have three alarms in my bedroom. One cell phone, two clocks. Cell phone rings first (highest setting possible), but that usually doesn't wake me up. Second clock blares five minutes later. Third clock blares five minutes after that. The second clock is tuned to a random FM radio station on the highest volume while the third clock is set to ring, again, at the highest volume.
I get the hell out of bed, put on some music while I take a shower in the bathroom just a few feet away (something soft or very loud depending on a variety of factors). I browse the Internet for a few minutes, head down stairs to grab something to eat for breakfast, then I get my Zune, car keys, cell phone, wallet, two pens, and I head out the door.

M/W/F: Alarm goes off at 8 for my girlfriend. Tiptoe around my room until 10 because my roommates love to sleep forever but are complete bitches if you make the slightest sound. Grab some water do some morning stretches and settle in front of the computer for about an hour until I need to do homework/class. Sometimes get breakfast with the girlfriend.
T/TH: Alarm off at 8. Complain about my 8:30 class. Roll out of bed at 8:10. Put on clothes, grab a some pop tarts, check my e-mail and facebook real quick then pack the laptop up and run to class.

I hear ya, but I needed this class and the only times it were offered was 8:30amT/TH and 5:30pm TH. I needed another class that was only offered 5:30pm TH. Upset me greatly. I'm up early, but I just can't stand class before 10. The atmosphere is just miserable.

I usually wake up at 4:50; 10 minutes before the alarm goes off. I turn it off so it doesn't wake my wife. Get up, take my meds, start the coffee maker, go online to check the weather to see if I can ride the bike, drink coffee, and then surf or game for 20 minutes. Drink coffee. Shower, drink coffee, dress, assemble my lunch, put coffee in a car cup if I'm not on the bike. Assemble and eat a peanut butter sandwich and I'm out the door at 6:30.
If I'm taking the bike, I abbreviate the computer time since getting prepped for the ride takes a bit of time. Suit, helmet, gauntlets (I love being able to wear Gauntlets!) and loading the saddlebags!

M/W/F: Wake up by about 8:15 (one cell phone alarm, one ringing alarm clock), roll out of bed, turn on the shower, throw my clothes on the bed, grab my laptop and decide what music I'm going to listen to in the shower, then the rest of the process and I'm out of my apartment by 8:45.
T/Th: I get to sleep 'til like 9:20, throw on clothes, go to Jeet Kune Do lessons and work out, and I'm home and showering by 11:45. I adore afternoon classes.

Tumble out of bed and stumble to the kitchen, pour myself a cup of ambition, then I yawn and stretch and try to come to life. Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumping, out on the street, the traffic starts jumping with folks like me on the job from nine to five.
Wake up at the crack of noon, hit the bong, and do a single cock pushup (one is all you need).
Aw hell, who am I fooling? That was in my twenties... now I get up around 8, stumble to the shower, hit the drive-thru Starbucks on the way to work and try to be in by 9.
MWF: Wake up about 10 am give or take. Make breakfast (something simple <5 min prep time). Study (and internet) till about 130. Take a shower. Go to class.
TR: Wake up about 7am. Take a shower. Make breakfast (simple again). Internet. off to 745 class.

It's more a matter of ease and nutrition for me: Carbs and protein. I need something in my system to calm down the anti-inflammatories that I take.
Milk??? The only liquid that I'm ingesting at that hour is coffee! ;) Maybe a mimosa if it's Mother's Day.

Alarms go off at 4:40. Shut the one by my head off and groggily crawl to the foot of my bed and hit snooze on the two alarms there. Doze at the foot of my bed, hitting snooze until I decide it's time to get up. Shower, cereal, make lunch, dress, drive 40 minutes, start working.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who turns alarms off in their sleep... But sometimes I sleep through them, and so does the cat.
Wake up between 9 and 10:30 depending on which alarm actually wakes me up. Try to move the cat without pissing her off, she's usually sleeping between me and the edge of the bed that isn't blocked off. If I succeed I get lovin's if not... I get a new scar. Goof off on the comp for a bit, get dressed and head out for work/class.
Showers are usually at night :p

Girlfriend's alarm goes off at 6:45AM. That triggers the cat to meow incessantly which triggers me to roll over and sleep another 45 minutes.
My alarm goes off at 7:30...I hit snooze a few times...girlfriend leaves for work, I wake up around 7:45.
Jump in the shower for a 5 minute rinse off. (Usually shower and shave at night).
Put some oatmeal in the microwave...and then give the diabetic cat it's shot of insulin.
Watch as oatmeal cooks and the cat gives me the evil eye due to me stabbing it with a needle.
Now around 8:00AM. Sit down in front of computer. Sync up iTunes, download podcasts for the day, sync iPhone. Browse for 15 minutes or so.
Head out the door at 815ish...catch the 830 "sea bus"...read a book for the 15 minute ride (currently the Zombie Survival Guide...one has to be prepared). Walk into downtown and get to the office by 9ish. :)
Pretty easy life.

I absolutely hate going to sleep and then I also absolutely hate going up. It is a most difficult thing to have both issues. Tie this with the fact that I am a very fast & deep sleeper, I usually sleep right through my two alarm clocks. I often have to change the noises they make because eventually I'll just incorporate the loud bastards right into my dreams...
After I eventually wake up, I go right to the restroom for usual morning business and then in for a nice warm to hot shower. While my clothes for the day are taking about a 15 minute tumble in the dryer, I'll check my personal & work email, check CoG & IM for anything happening and then read what's been happening in the world while I was asleep.
Once I'm done I'll get dressed, grab an apple, a nectarine or grapes and head off to work. Right now it is a 35 to 45 minute commute, which gives me plenty of time to partially listen to a podcast.
Usually the alarm wakes me up without any snooze button required... but I can remember recently, I was really tired and the alarm clock was like some foreign object bleating at me, and I was too dazed to even understand its purpose, let alone how to shut it up. My wife was getting angry as I fumbled with it, pleading for it to shut up. There must be a better way.

I feel like a ninja when I'm awake enough to turn my alarm off. It's an old-school one, and on the first ring of the bell I seize it by the top to silence that tiny hammer and have it off in another two seconds.
After that, I am the most tired ninja of all time.

Heh, I have these problems too. My best solution was that the two alarms at the foot of my bed have alarms that clash so bad that even I can't sleep through it (for long periods).

I get up at 6am, hop in the shower and then get dressed. After that I grab a bowl of cereal (with almond milk) and sit down at the computer for 20 minutes or so to read COG. Then I put on my shoes and coat and head out the door. I walk three blocks over solid ice, shuffling slowly so as to avoid slipping and landing on my rear - which has happened twice this winter already. I wait for the bus, then take the bus another ten blocks before walking another three blocks to work. I arrive at the office, scan my ID card and fingerprint, and get to work!

I also have two alarm clocks; the first one is set for 8:15am and has a big display, but resets itself if the power goes out. The second is a battery powered travel clock that is set for 8:20am. I typically wake up though at 8am though and get out of bed before the first alarm goes off.
Then I turn on my stereo and its right to the bathroom where I play DS Picross while on the can. Recently, I started showering in the morning instead of right before going to bed, so that comes next. By 8:35, I'm dressed and ready to go, but I usually hit up email, CNN.com and CoG making my departure time 8:50. I then drive 4 miles to work where (unless I have a 9am meeting), it doesnt matter if I roll in a few minutes late.

That is going to be an awesome schedule. I have a friend who does (3) twelve hour days and then he goes in for a few hours on the fourth day to get his hours up to 40. He usually sticks around on the twelve hour shifts a little longer so he doesn't have to bother with the fourth day. He works about 12 days a month. Lucky.
My typical day, get up at 6:00 am. I shower at night so when I wake up I take a very quick shower, dress, throw some food in my lunch box while making coffee and hit the road about 6:15. I arrive at work around 7:00 am. Grab a cup of coffee and log onto the PC. I usually hit CoG and a couple other sites. Then work work work until 5:00 -5:30 ish and then drive home. I usually get home around 6:00-6:15 pm.

It aligns my schedule with the work volumes, or at least that's what they say. If it doesn't work out they will be changing the schedules again, but I'm hoping they don't. We have five different shifts in my department.
