Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, Hanson's Taylor Hanson and Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger have formed a new band, Tinted Windows.

The group has recorded its debut album at Stratosphere Sound Studios in New York, which Schlesinger and Iha co-own with Ivy's Andy Chase. The set is expected this spring on a label to be announced.

Tinted Windows will play its first major show at Billboard's South by Southwest showcase, to be held March 20 at Pangaea in Austin, Texas. So let me get this straight....Smashing Pumpkins, Hanson, Fountains of Wayne and Cheap Trick members come together for this band. It's like a 90's pop rock super group. And Hanson, really? Guess they are finally running out of money.

I don't know anything about any of those bands, but maybe it's because they just want to have some kind of creative output going on?

In other words, they just want to rock out.

Was Taylor Hanson the one that was a girl? She was pretty hot.

Absolutely nothing.

They are the best out of the groups mentioned here. Classic 90's alt rock.

First off, Stormfellow, go obtain a copy of Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream.

Second, this sounds like a really weird mix but I know most of those guys are great musicians. Except the Hanson girl. I have my doubts about her.

No, I mean like, I know of them. I've listened to their Greatest Hits compilation a while ago, but I don't know who the band members are, or what they've been up to recently and so forth. You get the point.

Well, the Smashing Pumpkins member in the band isn't Billy Corgan so I think they have a pretty good shot at staying together. Cheap Trick and Smashing Pumpkins are two great bands from the '90s... the Hanson add on is kinda disappointing though, but whatevs. If they can make good music, I'm not going to be the one complaining. :)

That was such an awesome conversation at school the day after the Mmmbop video came out.

Like the great Space Ghost videos above, it was a topic rife with inappropriate humor. :)

Whoa dude. Don't forget about Cheap Trick. They've been around since like...the 70s, man. The other two are no contest, but it'd be a tough call between CT & SP.

I was one of those mud people you know. It was a good time, although way too hot to be covered in mud.

Didn't we have a member around here that was a dead ringer for Bun E. Carlos?

Loved Cheap Trick back in the 70's!

I'll give you Cheap Trick but I have a soft spot for SP, even as whiny as Billy Corgan is. I loved Siamese Dream, Gish, and even the "Mellon Collie" double CD.

Wasn't Fountains of Wayne early 2000's? I remember them being popular my freshmen year of college.

They were. It isn't really the 90s.

Cheap Trick's heyday was in the 80s...SP & Hanson were in the 90s, and Wayne was in 2001 or so.

Their earlier stuff wasn't bad. I actually enjoyed Drown, Rhinoceros, and Siva. I thought they were a half decent band at that point. Then came Billy fucking whining bloody murder. I just couldn't listen to him cry after Siamese Dream. I tried to like them, I really did. I've heard their newer singles and what not are actually pretty hard for them, but Billy himself just left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Now Iha, that dude is a fucking pimp.

That's cool. Yeah, Bill's voice is something that can be an instant turnoff for some. I found some cool songs on Mellon Collie- some of the softer ones- where he actually sings are really fucking good. And some, of course, he is whining like a bitch :)

And yeah, Iha is a really great guitarist.
