Soon....very soon you will be mine.
Coming straight from the Criterion Games twitter feed (http://twitter.com/Criterion_Games) is news that the Legendary Car pack will be released on the consoles this Thursday. They went all caps on the word "console" so I'm not sure what that means for you PC folk.
There is still no word on price just yet, but I'd expect an announcement pretty soon. The Legendary Car Pack was revealed back in December with further details released last month. Four unique cars will come in the pack to be bought as a group ($7.99 / €7.99 / £6.29 / 640 MS Points) or individually: The Manhattan Spirit (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3349/3182002043_5f2ea7268a.jpg?v=0) - $1.99 / €1.99 / £1.59 / 160 MS Points, GT Nighthawk (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3089/3182002165_ed54743983.jpg?v=0) - $1.99 / €1.99 / £1.59 / 160 MS Points, Cavalry Bootlegger (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3134/3182836606_40b89eba44.jpg?v=0) - $1.99 / €1.99 / £1.59 / 160 MS Points, and the 88 Special (pictured above) - $3.99 / €3.99 / £3.19 / 320 MS Points.
Four more add-on packs for Burnout Paradise are expected for release throughout 2009.

UPDATE - Prices have been revealed. Original story has been updated to include this information.

Anybody got a link to the other DLC packs then, I just bought this and haven't been really paying attention. Wondering what they are.
This is free?

This is NOT free. All packs released this year will be premium content, so you'll be paying for it (with the exception of patches and the like).

From ThePosterBoy's feed. (http://twitter.com/theposterboy)
CONSOLE means Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 :)
PC players will need to be a little more patient. We'll announce the release data for PC Legendary Cars in the near future
At least us PCers probably have a bunch left to do as it is. Hopefully PC isn't too far behind.

I don't care about paying something. But only big surf and this look like genuine assets. Don't care about Toy Cars and such.

I think Big Surf will be on everyone's list. As for the Toy Pack, I need some more info before being sold on them.
Other than that, I'm in for the Legendary Cars, police chases, Big Surf, and the boost specials.

I think I'll pass on this. As much as I like the idea of having a flying car, in practice I know it will just be a special effect in that the car will just hover and still retain the same handling characteristics as before.
Big Surf and the Cops and Wanted packs are the only ones I'll likely get.

Actually, it's a little floaty when you drive while hovering. There's video of it in action if you aren't certain.

Oh, I'm not complaining...yet. I'll gladly buy what they offer because the strategy is working. However, I won't pay more than $15 for these cars and $10 may be a stretch. But now that I think about it, I would pay $2.50 a car, so I guess $10 is not all that bad.

This isn't official. It's coming off the news page in the PS3 & PC versions of the game and only in the European markets:
88 Special
$3.99 / €3.99 / £3.19
Manhatten Spirit
$1.99 / €1.99 / £1.59
Cavalry Bootlegger
$1.99 / €1.99 / £1.59
GT Nighthawk
$1.99 / €1.99 / £1.59
The Legendary Cars Collection (Whole Set)
$7.99 / €7.99 / £6.29
total

I paid $13 for this game. I can buy quite a bit of content before I feel like I got what I paid for. This game has a ton of content. Hell I might just get the PS3 version also.

I'm looking forward to picking this up on the PC at some point. I wish it wasn't $40, but I understand that it's a great title and probably worth every penny. I'm hoping it hits Steam soon.
Hopefully the DLC comes to the PC soon, and not just via GFWL.

The DLC is coming to the PC, via the in-game store. You should download the PC demo. It's the entire game, but time-limited. If you like it, you can use the in-game store to unlock the whole thing.

If I unlock the game from the in-game store, then where do I go if I want to download the game again in the future?
For that matter, if I buy the DLC in-game, will it remember a year from now that I bought that DLC so I can download it again?
I'm just curious.

If you buy the game you just get a key-code that lets you unlock any demo version. I'm not sure about the DLC, to be honest.

Pfff/ I'm not one to bitch about DLC. But I just bought the whole ultimate box for 30. Why the hell would I pay 8 for 4 cars. No deal.
DLC pricing really is way out there.

I think we can give them a pass on this one considering the sheer amount of free DLC they threw at us last year.
Also, a Thursday release is way too long, bring them out now.

I can handle the price point. I will download it. Hell, the party I had FRIDAY night, made the download of the party pack WELL worth it! We had 8 players, playing 8 rounds for hours. :-) It was a LOT of fun. :-)
I think the party Pack was a little on the high-side, in and of itself... but considering all of the FREE stuff... I won't complain. Of course, I will probably always think things are a touch on the high-side. :-)

I love this game, but there is no way in hell I would ever spend $2 for a car, let alone $4 for one.
I could walk into Gamestop with $8 and buy an entire Burnout game from last gen. And I would, only then I'd be shopping at Gamestop, so instead I'm going to save my $8 and probably put it toward the island update later on, given a more down to earth price.

If this were the toy cars pack, I don't know that I'd be as quick to jump, but if you know me, you know they could have charged another 20 bucks for these specific cars, and I'd pay it without question.
Sorry...I need my DeLorean that isn't a DeLorean to hover through Paradise City in.

Usual stuff there...the toy cars, the Island...that sort of thing. But I'm curious what that key is on the left (Legendary Car Pack?) and even more so what that is on the very far left. It's a movie reel and I REALLY have my hopes up that maybe we'll be getting some kind of video saving or editing device in the game.
Any thoughts?

I would guess the film strip is the Legendary car pack (what are those vehicles taken from?) and the key might be the cops & robbers pack.

The update is up. So you can look at the Legendary Cars but not buy them. And the key icon in the store pic earlier actually just unlocks all the cars for you, so you don't have to earn them in the game. Not something I'm interested in, but whatever. After seeing all the pics from the Toy Car Pack I actually want that more than the Legendary cars. Some of them are adorable.
Wow, those Toy cars and Boost specials are expensive. I'm interested in the Hawker Mech Boost car that can change its boost type between agro, stunt and speed. Toy cars I'm not too interested in but may plonk the MSP's down for one of the packs. Legendary is mine though :)
Legendary cars, totally worth it. Jansen is sweet, but my favourite is the NightHawk. I hit another car head on going full pelt (not turbo though) and still managed to drive away. Sweet. It's tough as nails and fast as flip! The wooh wooh noise is great too and a stroke of genius to whoever thought of putting the flashing light on the back too.
Why are all 3 car packs (Toy, Legendary and Boost) up to buy?

Burnout™ Paradise Time Savers Pack 400pts
This is the ideal purchase for all those players that want all of the Burnout Paradise cars and bikes but don't quite have the time to win them all. Purchasing this pack will immediately unlock all the cars that you can get for free by playing Burnout Paradise all the way to completion. However, you'll still need to win the events to earn your Burnout Licenses. Now there's no excuse to not getting online and mixing it with all the other members of the Burnout Paradise community.

So wait, why is the new update 800 MB? Seems a bit excessive for just adding up to 4 cars, considering all the groundwork had been laid the last patch.
And I'm flipping back and forth between The Manhattan Spirit blaring Ray Parker Jr. and the Jansen 88 Special with the BTTF soundtrack. (EDIT: or maybe the Spirit with Jack Black singing the theme)
I've actually been trying to hold off on playing Paradise and finishing other games. This is just gonna suck me back in for a few more weeks.

I like the Nighthawk. The blue lights are a little too subtle compared to KITT's red lights though.
The Nighthawk is just stunning at races. With the boost active, you drive on sheer instinct alone.
The 88 on hover mode is incredible fun. You can get massive air by switching modes at the right time.
Bootlegger is so-so, but it's based off the starter car.
Hunter Manhattan, like it's predecessor drives like a bus full of cinderblocks.

Xboxers could buy the boost and toys pack for a short time when it first went live. It was a mess up on someones part, prolly XBLM's. The thing that seemed strange to me was that the two toy packs cost 480msp's each or you can buy the bundle of both packs for 1000? Weird. Anyways, they aren't available anymore.

The 88 definitely seems fast enough to be a time machine. While racing with it last night I managed to really screw up a couple races pretty badly toward the end, but instead of restarting I just sat on the boost and ended up going from a long shot last place to the win in about 6 seconds.

I love the Nitehawk. It's a rocket when the boost kicks in, but it stays surprisingly nimble. Hit an x8 multiplier just boosting around in the mountains last night.
