Need some advice

So i brought the eldar army from a seller on ebay. I presumed they had it in stock rather than ordering it in. Since it's finished running this would be the only way to get it. Seems i was wrong but the shop have offered me £120 store credit or a refund. I just don't know what to get for the £120 from the eldar stuff they carry. It maybe my best chance at getting a good core army at the moment given that the army box set will be very hard to get hold off and the one they've replaced it with sucks in my eyes since it's all tanks

So far i'm either going with 2 eldar battle forces with a farseer at £97 which leaves me with £22 for something else

for £84.60 which leaves me with £35 to fill out the rest.

i'm getting more for my money with the first one with out the box sets would be around £132 so over all i'd be getting £155 worth of models over all where as with the second one i'd be getting £140 worth of models over all.... but the first way of doing it with the 2 box sets is much more prescriptive.

What would you do with the money? preferably with there eldar products heh

If you get 8 Dire Avengers, there's no need to pick up 2 exarchs.

I would go with your second list, but substitute a Wraithlord for the War Walker.

The reason i end up with 2 exarchs is a by-product of getting the 2 box sets. With the first list, other than the far seer, that is 2 battle force box sets worth. People on an eldar forum are saying that may be the best way to go... at the moment i'm looking at

2 battle force box sets
1 dire avenger set
1 farseer
1 warlock

which nets me

20 Guardians + 2 platforms
2 Warwalker
2 Wave Serpent
18 dire avengers + 3 exarch (i'd avoid this if i could but i can't get 2 with the boxes and 1 with the set and there's no set with out one)
1 farseer
1 war lock

for £118 i get 4 troop choices, 2 guardian and 2 dire avengers with the avengers mounted in the wave serpents (popular tactics) with the 2 war walkers and farseer for suppourt i aslo have a box of harlequins already (a gift). It's the core of a basic of a basic eldar force. From that base i can add on what else i want. I'm tempted by an altansar carfworld army, wouldn't go too fluffy with it but i might get Ra and some reepers and put my own twist on it with the use of wraith units which i want simply beacuse there cool i want to paint them. The wraithguards are a bit point heavy maybe but 1 or 2 wraithlords are always welcome.

But ya this way i can put down an army along the lines of a number of well liked lists i've come across

not that any one cares but my army had there first outing vs the orks the other week. first go i had my ass handed to me, partly by lucky shots partly because of a number of mistakes i made in the army list, set up, and in game.

Second game was frankly a slaughter. 2 squads of 10 dire avengers, farseer and 2 war walkers and we chewed the orks up and spat them out. Doomed blade storms are something to behold. I wiped out a group of 15 boys in one shooting turn thanks to that heh

I played my Tau a couple of times. First time, played one of the better players in the area... and got my butt handed to me... badly.

The next time, vs Space Marines, I soundly destroyed them... mainly, because of luck. There was some good, solid cover between me and him... and he got ABYSMAL rolls getting his squads through. So bad, that only one squad came through, in a turn, which allowed ALL of my squads to obliterate his. :-)

Well my brother has been back up for easter with some need stuff, mainly a truck, a zap gun, death gunners and comandos... we've been playing 1000pt games. He beat me in the first game quite hard... He has powerful long range stuff that i didn't really have an answer to and the zap gun chewed up whole damn units the evil thing that it is. That said i did get to see my harlequins in action and they where rather impressive vs the orks

Second game i altered my list a bit 2 wave serpents with dire avengers and my beefed up far seer along with the 2 war walkers and the harlequins. My list still needs tweeking, i tried out start cannons which where awful, i think i'll mix up brite lances EML and scatter lazers along my units. Anyway we went 5 turns and ended up at a draw. If it wasn't for the damned zap gun killing all but 1 dire avenger (who then killed one ork and tied up 3 death copters in CC for 2 turns!) it could have been a much different story.

Think the major story where that my harlequins where dammed impressive... i might be better off with other eldar CCs in terms of points but i really like these guys and i might build up a bigger troupe of them with shadowseer. He had 15 hard boys with a nob and a warboss... i bladed stormed them with the dire avengers which killed 9 or them and them rushed them with the harlequnis. They won the first combat killing of everything and leaving the warboss with one wound and beat him the next round. They killed the guy with the zap gun, the death gunners and the last fleeing part of a routed ork unit. Rather damned fun.

It's been a fun few games, the changes he made has forced me to be far more aggressive in my tatics and load outs. Running the transports forward and dropping out the dires has been a very cool way of doing things. Might get them tied up in CC quicker but they do a lot of damage. The waves act as good cover too. My farseers dire unit was assaulted but we where near the table edge with not much room for the orks to get around the transport which meant with the new rules that not many orks could get them selfs in to base contact. With the dires defend ability in play it hammered the orcs enough that i won the combat the forced them to run.

I might take some pictures of the next game since even with unpainted stuff and dodgy scenery it still looks rather awesome and will let me explain what is going on.

I've also decided on biel tan as the paint and craftworld for fluffy stuff... i could come up with my own but i really like the look of biel tan and so on, fun stuff
