I had some friends of my girlfriend over this last weekend, and like most times I play games with non-gamers, we brought out the Wii Sports machine...I mean, the Wii. I know there are good games "for gamers" out there that I might pick up eventually, but between the PS3, 360, and my computer I've got too many "gamer games" already to play. That leaves the Wii as the party machine, which is fine except that I end up playing Wii Sports every time.

So what are the best party/group games out there? I really like playing golf on Wii Sports, but those original 9 holes get pretty old after a while. Are there any non-sim golf games with a bit more options? I'm looking for games that work well for people that don't play games often and that allow you to pass the controller around the room.

Thanks in advance!

I think there are specific forums for that...
I've heard good things about Raving Rabbits, not sure which edition is the best. Mario Kart is fun as well, and Smash Bros, although more of a learning curve. Rockband is always fun for whatever system you want, great for parties.

Try local nail salons, massage parlors or bath houses.

Boom Blox.

If you're into board games and RPG's, maybe Dokapon Kingdom. This is the main one that is best for sharing one controller, since it's turn based.

The version of Bust a Move on the Wii is one of the better versions I've played.

Wario Ware Smooth Moves is absolutely ridiculous, and you can play it with 4 people

I only played the first Raving Rabbids, but it sucked as a party game, and I can't recommend it. Boom Blox is very good though.

Your first step should be to get Boom Blox. Wario Ware scales the best. I've had some good party times with Raving Rabbids, too.

The Tiger Woods golf game was pretty fun. But don't listen to me if you're trying to stray away from the sports games.

"Good" Party games:
Boom Blox
Raving Rabbids 1
Wario Ware
Mario Kart
Smarty Pants

I have had funs with my non-gaming and gaming friends playing those titles. Smarty Pants is a title that I feel is often overlooked. Its a fun trivia game thats great for mixed crowds (age, gender, gaming, non gaming).

Mini Golf games:
Carnival Games Mini Golf
Fun Fun Mini Golf (Wii Ware)
(Neither of which got very good reviews)

Well, there look to be some good options there. I was hoping in particular for a golf game that can expand from Wii Sports golf. I'm thinking the Tiger Woods game is to much of a sim for what I'm looking for, so it doesn't seem like there are a ton of options.

We Love Golf (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/welovegolf?q=we%20love%20golf)

Super Swing Golf (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/superswinggolf?q=super%20swing%20golf)

Super Swing Golf 2 (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/superswinggolfseason2?q=super%20swing%20golf)

Not really too big on golf so I can't say much about any of those. Although Camelot made We Love Golf and they'd made Mario Golf (GC) and Hot Shots (PSX) and those were good golf games.

I'll second Smarty Pants, it's good cheap fun.

Boom Blox is a boatload of fun with a group as well.

Nothing beats Rock Band, tho.

Mario Kart and Guitar Hero are fun party games but noone wants to duel me anymore :(
I even shame my boyfriend at Slayer songs and he's the one that loves them so much
