I broke my toe :(

I fought a chair and the chair won :'(

My 92 year old grandmother called me "Gimpy" and offered to give me her handicap parking pass because I'm "more crippled" than her

Aww, lay off the invalid. A broken toe is serious business.

I once broke a thumb from literally diving into bed. This happened about six months ago, and it was a pain. I can only imagine what having to walk on a broken phalanges is like.

My buddy is a tile setter. He was doing a job last week and stepped on a nail that was sticking up that another contractor had left behind. It went through his shoe and toe, and was stopped by his toenail.

He pulled it out (complete with small "chunky" bits), and in a rage kicked something and sprained something in his "good" foot. Awesome.

Foot injuries are no joke, people. :D

I broke my collar bone diving out of bed. I was sleep walking at the time, though, so I have an excuse.

Spft, I'm related to someone (who shall remain anom) who's had a broken toe at least 5 separate times. Not much you can do either, splint it to the closest toe and tough it out. (assuming it's not broken funny, then you get to set it first...)

Buying open toe'd shoes is a must.

I cut my hand cleaning up a broken CorningWare dish on Superbowl Sunday. Spent 2 hours in the ER and got three stitches. I have a doctor appointment to get the stitches out today. However, when I woke up this morning the area was sore, swollen and inflamed. It's definitely infected and I think it's down deep too!

I think I'm in for more than just having the stitches removed. Damn! I was hoping to get back on my motorcycle soon. The cut is on my right hand: My throttle hand!

Ha your Grandmother reminds me of mine.
When I got shot, once she found out I was ok she said, "Serves you right for being slow."
Grandmothers from the WW1 and 2 era are Born Again Hard.

Also I have broken or dislocated my share of little piggies, it does indeed hurt like a bitch.

I've had several dislocated toes, and it's amazing how something so small can hurt so freaking much.

Especially when it's sitting at a right angle to your foot, and nobody can wrench it back into place, despite painfully trying. :D

Might. I'm quite hopped up on pain pills and am not sure what that does to my knitting.

Also, yes my Grammy is awesome :D

I hope you feel better soon. Injuries suck regardless of how trivial they sound.

Nah, doctor supplied pills. I also got a fancy shoe to wear!

Oh, here's one of my foot from before I went to the doctor to make sure it was straightened properly. The colors are prettier now but I'm too lazy to take another picture :p

I feel your pain. I broke my toe last year. It hurts. I don't even know how I did it. I was playing ultimate, made a cut, and then OWW.
But I didn't go see anyone. I taped it up once or twice, but that was all. Just walked it off. I didn't figure the doctor could really do anything for me. I had no idea I'd have gotten pain killers and/or a special shoe!

I've never broken a bone, but I've torn a tendon in my left arm before.
That was no fun at all.
I'm not supposed to do heavy lifting anymore, but since then I've worked on a construction site and in a warehouse. So much for that.

My toe had to be straightened after I did it, the top half was going at pretty close to a right angle from the rest of the toe :p

I once got a really bad ingrown toenail. By the time it got infected there was more nail curled up and buried down the side than there was visible. I knew it must have been bad when, upon cutting it out, the doctor exclaimed that it was the worst he'd ever seen (aparrently he'd seen quite a few - somewhere in the 100s or maybe even 1000s.) Also the local in my infected toe was easily the worst pain I've felt. (10 out of 10 on the "how much pain are you in" scale)

Anywise, the point is: you really don't appreciate how much something so seeming insignificant as a toe injury just messes up everything.

I remember breaking three fingers on my right hand when I was in my 20s. I punched a wall so hard that I left an impression in it. Hurt like hell, especially when I got the fingers reset, and I had to wear a volar slab for a long, long time. I still have mild pain and weakness in my right pinky, but other than that there have been no problems.

Yeah, my toe looked really funny.

Reasons I went to the doctor instead of just dealing with it at home:

1) the shoe mom had was a little too small
2) had to make sure it was put back properly
3) wanted more pain pills
