Just threw this in for a few races and had forgotten how fun it was. Then I remembered how ridiculous some of the multiplayer races were with friends. Anybody interested in getting a race night set up?

I'd be down for a race night.

You mean I may have to take my wheel out of the closet? I was seriously going to play some of this today, but got sidetracked by NHL 09.

I own the game, but have yet to play it. Talk to me after I finish Mass Effect :)

Been playing this game a lot lately, and I must say, I miss the replay feature of Race Driver: GRID. I mean, quite often, in a long race, say 6-8 laps, I get near the end, make one mistake, and lose. So I'm forced to restart. In Race Driver: GRID, I could just rewind the last few moments. Its actually such an incredibly good feature I'm surprised no one thought of it before.

Anyway... I'm nitpicking though. Its an awesome game, definitely scratches that racing and upgrading itch. I've got a '70 Corvette ZR1, man that thing is good. Havent upgraded the engine too much cos I need it for the 400HP races, but man, it handles nicely.

Well let me know when you guys would like to try to play.

Last night, while I was playing split screen with my housemates, I tried to plug the cable for my play and charge kit. Frustrated, I lifted my xbox up. With it running. With the forza 2 disc inside. Running Forza 2.

Needless to say, there was a unsettling noise. Tried to load up a race, and it told me disc couldnt be read. Tried again, different track, and it worked. The disc has a circular scratch around the whole circumference now.

So.... I'm a little worried. Its a second hand disc, so probably little scratched, and it had failed to load sometimes even before I added my own scratches. I'm just worried I pushed it over the edge. I played some single player races last night and it seemed to work, so I dont know if I have lost anything, or if so, exactly what.

I think I'll try to install it to my hard disk tonight, I've been meaning to do that for ages but havent got round to it. Hopefully that works!

Even before I finished your post, this paragraph made me cringe.

Send a message to my brother, DubC (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/member.php?u=554). He's been playing this a lot lately and might be down.

Thinking back, on the Stupid Meter, it ranks about an 8.

So, I'm a little worried about it, but it did work okay last night. Trying the install thing now.

EDIT: Install failed, disc broken. Just ordered a new one from Amazon (I love this game unfortunately). Theres £18 I wont see again.

Forza 2 is probably the single game i'm worst at. I just cant effectively control any car with some real power (say, B class and up) without hideous oversteer. I think I got to level 8 or so in the Career and packed it in because it was just too annoying.

I presume it's more fun online?

Do you have TCS on? Do you drive on Manual or Automatic?? Another suggestion is to apply various throttle control. What I mean is let off the accelerator as you feel the car starting to sway and lose grip. With TCS off on high powered cars to much power means you have to gingerly apply pressure at low RPM's with low gears. The tires spin mad with no grip and will burn out your tires faster. Remember to just let off the right trigger as you start to lose traction. Also shifting up in mid-torque ranges on the first two gears also helps with traction which is why I asked if you race with Manual. Shouldn't be too difficult.

That said I do have a steering wheel. :D

Also the GT40 MKII is a sexy car but man is it a bitch to control. I should try it without TCS. I seem to enjoy inflicting pain on myself.

I found buying spoilers helps with oversteer.

TCS/ABS off (leaving these on seems to cause way too much wheel lock), Automatic transmission. I was tempted to switch to Manual for that extra bit of control but to be honest, I'm not sure it'll make much difference.

TCS being off is your problem.. lol. I can control an R1 car with TCS off but it seems like such a chore, it's just too much of a killjoy when you have to work the throttle so hard. Then when you do spin it's frustrating as hell to get up to race speed again = RESTART. Also adding a Limited Slip can really help. I know it's a SIM racer but it feels to much like work. ABS does cause wheel lock I keep it off. I also keep ASM off. You probably already know all this though.

Just installed Forza 2 to the hard drive. Once I have some play time under my belt, I'd be up for some races.

I'm interested! See below for my gamer tag. I'd love to get in on some Forza goodness.

Many enjoyable hours of racing from this game. Although, I remember always getting frustrated at JackB because no matter how well I ran a track, I could real him in, but never get enough momentum for a clean pass. That man was awesome at this game.

I should upload some screenshots for nostalgia's sake =)

I'd be up for playing, but I never played enough to unlock a solid garage of cars.

I would get so frustrated playing online, I can't remember how many times I ended up getting my car wrecked during some inevitably over crowded turn and crawling along the track at 5 mph while everyone else flew past me for the rest of the race.

Even though I wasn't able to finish the races I still had a fun time being an obstacle for the other drivers.
