So most of you have probably seen that they've been adding mods to Steam and that Dystopia (and Eternal Silence) was added recently.

I tried to play Dystopia when it first came out, but a fatal crash/freezing bug kept me from playing. The latest version appears to have resolved that issue for me and after playing for an hour last night after a long session of Quake Live, I'm really loving it.

Is there any interest in having a CoG game? I'm sure if we just all got together on Steam we could invade an empty server for a while.

I have this game installed, but I've never played past the tutorial. I'd be interested in trying it out.

My fucking god yes! Three years ago a friend at my high school found this mod with me. It's one of the few mods I have ever played that I felt needed to be a full fledged game. Used to have a group of guys that would play this with me ritually on the weekends.

Well that's two to start. ;)

I'm going to be playing for a little while now, so if anyone's up for a game, message me on steam and if we get enough people together playing public, we can probably split off and find an empty server.

I downloaded the mod, but haven't tried it yet. I have an interest in it, but won't have a chance to look at it until later, maybe 4-5 hours from now.

I'm downloading it now. Is it hard to get the hang of? Is it hard on a "newb"? Or can I just stumble along and figure it out while still being somewhat useful?

There's a definite learning curve to be super useful; it's a complex objective based game. At the base level though, as long as you know how to shoot then you can help out and learn along the way if you play for a while. Make sure you follow people who know where they're going and what they're doing though, so you learn the map layouts; they can be confusing.

The servers are full of new people now too, so you won't be alone. There are some helpful experienced players in there as well. I think I only met with one truly ridiculous troll today and a few other, minor, pretenders to the throne. :p

I'm done for the night, but assuming I don't have anything to do tomorrow night then maybe I'll put an event up on the CoG steam group and see who bites.

I used to play this game religiously!

Cyberworld battles were my favorite. That stuff got so intense.
The good thing is, even if you don't know the rules lingo and lay of the land you can still grab a medium and just kill dudes and listen.

That's what I've been doing. :D

I've been accounting pretty well for myself with the assault rifle too. Every so often I'll switch class or weapon or implants and try something different.

Goddamn, that tutorial is frustrating. It is leaving out crucial steps when instructing. It took me forever to figure out what combination of buttons produced a "boost jump". (hold shift, hold spacebar)

Then, I get into the cyber thingy, reset the elevator and get back. OK, "jack out" he says. 50 button pushes later, I somehow am out, so I enter again to see if I can figure out wtf I did to get out. Nope, stuck in there again until eventually one of the keys does it again. I try one more time and then go for my reliable "jack out" key of F10.

Game looks fun, but I think I might need to come back in a bit.

The tutorial isn't great; I'd really recommend just jumping into a game. The only thing I used the tutorial for was to get a basic handle on decking. (You hit F1 to jack out since if you've got a cyberdeck implant it's represented under F1. Could have been explained better though you're right)

I played when it first came out and it was fun, not sure why I stopped playing it. I remember the cyber space battles as being very fun though.

Ah, thanks, that helped immensely. I jumped on a server to check it out and it seems good. I'll have to give it a full shot tomorrow.
