I noticed a couple of new mods available free on Steam, and discovered that my HDD was almost at capacity. In looking for games to remove, I found that I still have Team Fortress Classic installed. It came with the HL1 pack I bought ages ago.

As you know, I am big into TF2, but I have never played the Classic one. Is it worth a run? Or, is TF2 just so much better that I should just uninstall and not bother?

Classic was a lot of fun back in the day. It was the first, and one of the few, multiplayer FPS games that I ever got into.

I'm not sure if it has held up at all, but it was a blast during its heyday.

I loved TFC back in the day, hundreds of hours put in over the years, but since TF2 has come it, I honestly have not looked back.

If you have the Fortress Forever mod for HL2 you can probably get away with uninstalling TFC.

Play it to try it out. Even if it is just to see what has all been changed with classes/maps in TF2. Though after 10 minutes of grenade spam and bunnyhopping, you should probably just uninstall it.

Yeah, I suspected that the sequel was a big improvement. I might jump on to give it a try, but, the whole concept of everyone having grenades is bizarre to me: it seems like it would break the whole game balance.

I remember writing up config files and macros for rocket jumping and stuff like that when this first came out. My son and I played this constantly! Great stuff at the time, but I think the new games have out-classed it!

I still go back and play some TFC with the old clan-mates now and then. It is a great game, and definitely worth at least a try.

I never got the feel for TFC. I basically skipped straight from QWTF to Q3TF -- it seemed to hold the feel of QWTF a bit better, at least to me.

That said, TFC is still some quality gaming with the right group of people.

Maybe we should try to get a retro TF night together...

Agree with you there. QWTF was the de facto Quake mod for the group I usually gamed with.
