If my name were Murtaug, and it were my birthday, I would go around saying, "I'm too old for this shit!"

I am getting too old.
Thank you Kinny.

Have you noticed that both of our avatars are kind of making the same face?

This is true.
But yours is a peanut! Mine is a DINOSAUR! They shouldn't be making the same kind of face.

You speak the truth, sir.
Have a good one, even if you are too old for this shit! Because you're never too old for gaming. :D

How far away from retirement are you?

Question regarding birthday threads: Do we really need them anymore?
Birthdays are announced at the bottom of the main forum page AND each person's profile has its own discussion section - it works a lot like Facebook's wall. Wouldn't it make more sense to post on those instead of filling up our already rapid-pace off topic section?
PS Happy birthday!

Normally, I'm not a violent man. But I feel I should defend TK by electronically kicking you in the balls. Twice.
They are needed, because they are part of what separates CoG from the rest of the filth on the 'tubes. Keep your lifeless, pocket-formed thoughts out of this place!

It's the "Hey! We know you and want you to have a great day once a year!" thread, to me. I think it's great that people step up and do this. I know I was pretty psyched when Sandman started my birthday thread. :)

Did you guys completely miss my point about the individual 'threads' that each profile already has? I think it's great to wish members a happy birthday, I just think there's a more direct and more effective and better organized place on the site for it that doesn't even fill up PM space. Those profile threads are pretty different from other forums, too, if you ask me! This would be a perfect use for them.

You do raise a point. I personally did not know there was even a personal thread in each profile, I imagine Kinny and others did not as well, and using them for birthdays is a great way to use them.
That said, thanks again to Kinny and everyone that responded with a happy birthday, much appreciated. My father went back into the hospital last night (Kidneys, this time, twice in as many months for his heart) so it has been a slightly gray day. Though, buddy took me for BBQ, did some Rock Band 2 rockin' and everything is okay.
How far away from retirement are you?
Far, far away... fortunately?

The correct answer was: 3 days... 3 days. Sorry, but what has he won, Roddy?

I think a public greeting is a far friendlier way to greet people than some forum tucked away in a profile you'd have to click on to see it.
TK -- I fully support the way you're doing this. Keep it going! :D
And happy birthday Murtaug!

Honestly, it's up to you guys whether you want them continued or not. I will defer to the community for this one. Poll upcoming!
