Because we don't have a politics section (and honestly I don't care if we do get one.)
And because I talked to someone earlier tonight who wasn't sure if they were going to vote, and seemed to be brushing it off.

Just put in your address. It'll tell you.
(Or at least give you a number to call to find out.)

We all have our own views. Let's not go into politics in here, I'd never get to sleep.

Also, I'm not ragging on Obama, but the word "Change" has gotten on my nerves from overuse.

Let's just get this out of the way.

McSame is old.
Barack Hussein Obama is inexperienced.
Biden can't open his mouth without putting his foot in it.
Palin can't open hers without ignorance coming out.
No, you suck!

There! That's pretty much every political thread. So the discussion is already played out in this thread. Everyone can refrain from dead horse beating in this thread and instead focus on discussing the value of participating in the democratic process.:D

That would be because both sides are using it. :p

I made sure that after my move, all my registration was in order, and happily it is. And I feel your pain iHap. Living in Illinois, my vote will be counted, but it sadly won't make much of a difference here I am afraid this year. Maybe one of these years.

That was a long video and I have a short attention span. Not voting because spiderman told me not to. :p J/k, always voted, always will. Otherwise I would feel like a hypocrite when complaining about politics.

Also, what the hell was Jamie Foxx wearing...does he think he's a freakin' cowboy?

I am pretty sure Michelle Trachtenberg just told me not to vote. I cant argue with that.

great video. i read that it was filmed in Leo's backyard.

our vote (canada) is on oct 14. woo-hoo! Voting for a party that will hopefully suck less than the one that is in power now.

I would, if there were a third choice, like... no government.

Vote personal accountability! Vote in allowing people to take care of themselves!

Oh, that and if non-Americans were allowed to take part...

Yes, because that would totally work for more than five minutes.

Why vote personal accountability? Why not actually write to your representative and make them more accountable. Complaints about the bail out bill were one of the reasons it got delayed. Although it may only have worked due to being so close to the election.

Hehe...now the gloves are off ;)

I always prefer the "Better the devil you know than the one you don't" type rule in our elections.

As for the video...I get the message, but that fat kid from Superbad had me laughing.

"War on drugs? I haven't done shit on drugs, except play Halo 3"

"I have 19 kids, I don't need abortion"

etc..

Not saying we're actually ready for that yet, just saying give me the option and see what happens.

I like to laugh, sometimes. ;)

I mean, if you're just limited to bad choice A and bad choice B, wtf is with being guilt-tripped into making a selection?

I am happy to nullify your vote. :D

I think it is accepted that as long as there are poor people in Chicago that this state will be a Democrat strong hold.

There are also congressional votes and state law considerations.

Stem Cell and Embrionic funding is a big one in my state this election, 4 years ago it was a gay marriage ban.

I hear all this bunk about votes not mattering or both candidates being jackasses, but please look at how both candidates plan to address the issues you care about and vote for the one who will best represent you. Voting is a privilege and I demand you do it, no matter for whom you cast your vote.

Meh, is it so astounding? All this talk about "the power" of the vote is wonderful, but my basic belief is that the current American democratic process is outdated and doesn't really fit the needs of modern society. (And adding electronic voting machines doesn't really modernize the process)

Point is I think the whole mechanism of government is a self-sustaining system that has a sublime and enigmatic agenda and any votes are just window-dressing. I think the people that get put into power are more slaves to the machine than anything else. Therefore it's the system itself that needs re-tooling. Or is that crazy-talk?

P.S. The main reason I can't vote is I'm not American. Now, if the rest of the world was allowed to vote in the US election...

But that's right, we're probably too ignorant to understand the needs and wants of the US citizen and have no right to decide.

Hey man, just an outsider's view and all I get it what's hose-fed to me through the inter-tubes. :D

And yeah, I'm pretty much an anarcho-capitalist. :o
