OK, someone please recommend me a Steam purchasable game for a ten spot.
I've got this Netbook and need something to break it in with :)

So the requirements:
$9.99
Playable on a 1.6 atom
2 gig ram
Netbook

and it must be cool :)

I was thinking some sort of RTS, or maybe World of Goo?

and on a side note, anyone here think Sins of a Solar Empire will run on low settigns?

Peggle is fun, possible even free

I got Half Life 1 running adequately on my Aspire One, so something comparable should work, at least.

I'm a fan of Introversion games. Darwinia and Uplink can both be had for $9.99 each. Darwinia's a retro-styled RTS, while Uplink is a hacker sim.

It just occurred to me that Steam could benefit hugely from a 'price range' page in the store menu.

If you are looking for an RTS, maybe a general strategy game might be good. :)

There is no better deal than the Civilization III Complete Pack (http://store.steampowered.com/app/3910/) for $5.

There used to be price range categories in the browse section. There is still a price range parameter in advanced search however.

EDIT: Here you go: http://store.steampowered.com/search/?sort_by=Price&sort_order=ASC&price=1,10

CIV 3 complete...for $4.99, gives you another 4-5 to spend on another game ;) Should run excellently on your specs.

I know you were thinking of a strategy game, but, nonetheless, I endeavour to inform you that Psychonauts is precisely the $9.99 you desire to spend.

Does Psychonauts demand a beefy rig? If not, then I wholeheartedly second your suggestion. :)

It demands enough of a rig that a netbook will pretty much choke and die on it.

I'd stick with 2d or REAALLY old 3d like HL1.

I just bought Jagged Alliance 2 on GOG.com for $10 last week and I've been playing it on my netbook. Game was awesome anyway, is more awesome with some of the mods.

There are a lot of great low priced games on Steam. Several of them have already been listed in here.

As far as Sins goes, I think the game scales quite well. Turn the settings way down and you should be able to play it just fine.

I've not tried it yet, but the latest Audiosurf update includes an ultra-low setting optimised for netbooks!

It's doesn't precisely fit your parameters but I think it's close enough. For around $12 you can get both Fallouts from GOG.

I second that - check out the gog.com catalogue.

Take Command: Second Manassas was just put up on Steam for $9. Absolutely brilliant game.
