I actually forgot that this game was coming back. I'm really looking forward to the TBS elements of this game. I don't know how I feel about the RTS elements yet...I wonder if it would be too hectic controlling those characters in such close quarters.

Otherwise, looks really purdy...Pretty much being shown on the PC, but being developed for the PS3 and 360 as well.

I just came here to post this :)

I'm very excited to see how this turns out, the trailers have a great feel for the game.

Sold.
I got a press release about this via a friend who writes for a computer gaming magazine a while ago, but I'd totally forgotten about it.
It's awesome that they're putting in a game mode that's faithful to the boardgame.

I certainly have my interest piqued. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

I think I like the idea of a quick turn-based multiplayer experience.

The turn based shots are just pure awesome.

The crappiest part of it all is that the game would be out already if it was just turn-based. Real time is holding things up till June or so.

RTS elements? Man, I saw some screens and I thought it was in the vein of Mutant League Football or Pigskin.

Personally I can't imagine playing the real time game mode.
I'm going to buy this because I love BloodBowl and the BloodBowl I love is not real time.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around how this game, if it is like it's namesake, could be playable in anything but Turn-based. I'm not saying it shouldn't or can't be, just that I have a hard time seeing it any other way.

Looks damn good though.

This will be a must-buy for me, as long as they do Lizardmen justice.

I wish this thing were real. Like, get in my car, drive 45 minutes, overpay for parking and buying some scalped tickets real.

Saw the post about this on Penny-Arcade yesterday, and I'm pretty excited. If it turns out to be half as good as it looks, I may end up with both the PC and PSP versions.

Having played Cyanide's prequal to this game and loving it, I hope the same care is given to this. It is maybe my favorite boardgame as a child.
Looking forward to learning more.

A-Freakin-men. I wasn't interested in this game until they announced lizardmen. Saurus Linemen FTW!

Well that would probably be the reason its been delayed for like 9 months from when they wanted to put it out. They can't get the real-time right. I imagine it would take a ton of mouse clicks or AI to even try otherwise the whole game becomes tackle checks and the teams with high AGI win. Hell I imagine that Skaven and Elves are nearly unstoppable in Real-time because they can be down the field in the end zone before you can click on the buggers (not to mention most fo your guys couldn't catch them anyway, so you have to plan ahead).

Plus you lose out on all the fun of stomping dudes on the ground and the rest of it.

Fortunately all accounts of the turn-based part are that its pretty much a perfect translation from table top to computer screen.

Mutant league football was a plain rip off of the BB TT...

but on topic i want this, a lot, but i doubt if i'd really touch the rts... What i want from this is to play the TT... it's likely to make a much better straight copy of the TT rules than the other warhammer TT games. I mean i do want to see some one try and mod DoW2 in to a fully turn based copy of the TT but ya it's been years since i played blood bowl and i remember an old turn based game of it that i used to love.

For some reason when I read this quote I pictured Jervis Johnson holding a gun to your head screaming "Type it, Type it".

As someone that's given up on EVER getting a copy of the board game at a reasonable price, I'm eagerly awaiting the release of this game, and will be buying it on day one. I didn't know there was a PSP version in the works though.... as long as that turns out well I'll have to add that to the PSP bag.

Same here. The crazy price always held me back. Just like Relic's DoW games, if this turns out awesome, then I'll be there to finally sink my teeth into this.

Have you seen the trailer of the Lizardmen vs. the Skaven? WOW! I know it's not game engine rendered, but they certainly have done their homework!

Just go out and buy it! Not only do you get to play the game, but you get to paint some miniatures, too! It's worth it! It's probably one of the funnest games that GW has released; except for Warhammer Quest, but that's totally out of the marketplace these days. I picked up an extra copy of BB for my son when they discontinued it last time. Cost about $20.

Blood Bowl the boardgame is not expensive in my area. 65-75 bucks. Thats barely more than a vid game these days.

Looks damn good, and I think they could do the RTS mode just fine if they just basically handled it like a console sports game, but instead of switching between controlling one guy at a time, you could point and click to give orders and such. Hell, make a little usage of waypoints and maybe even path outlining and I could see some damn clever ways to make one hell of a football game.

I wonder how good the DS version will be. Hopefully they don't try to shoehorn it into 3d and just switch to 2d or mixed 2d/3d a la Pokemon.

If this uses even close to the same specifics and engine as Chaos League they can pull it off.

Funny that you should mention Chaos League.
Reading this thread made me reinstall it and I really couldn't get behind the control system for it. There's way too much going on at once.
I felt like I needed another 5 cursors and 5 new arms to go with them.

Also it doesn't like my graphics card I don't think. Water is incredibly glitchy and annoying, especially when it makes me play in the swampy arena.

If you can find it cheap, it's a great game, that just doesn't get the GW love because they can't expand on it every other month. Still a favourite after Talisman.

Wow...I would have to say my experience with it was exactly the opposite. I found that I wanted more to do at times. Thats very strange. I was also lucky in that I had no glitches. But I did have some blow out games. I love that game.

I've bid-battled on eBay for it many times... I usually run with it until about $90, at which point I break off the chase. I only bid on sealed copies of the game as all the non-sealed ones are always missing bits or are in bad shape. One night I got gutsy and went up to $120, but got sniped at the end of the auction.

The brick-and-mortar stores around here don't have it, not even the awesome and might Games Plus, in Mt. Prospect, IL.

I'll just wait for the video version at this point!

It's not a new version and the rules you get in it are outdated. This is the same box that has been in print for almost 10 years.

There are plenty of places to get the newest rules though. I think the specialist games site has them all.

I downloaded the latest rules a while ago, printed them all off and put them in a binder. Now if only I actually ever played...

The rules are freely available from GW's website. The main thing you want the box for is the playing pitch, dice, and accessories, plus 2 fieldable teams.
