I just bought the movie Traitor off of the PSN network and after paying ( of course ) i am getting en error message saying This PS3 system cannot be activated for video. This content cannot be used. 1 PS3 SYSTEMS are already activated for your account. To activate this system you must deactivate the other PS3 system.
Well I have owned about 3 different PS3 systems and I have no access to any of them anymore unless I want to go cross country. I removed all content from all the hard drives when I sell any of my consoles. The system works fine for playing and downloading/purchasing games but not videos. I decided to call Sony and here is what they told me.
I need to fax them some sort of proof of sale for my last PS3 and proof of purchase of my new PS3 or they won't deactivate it. I told the guy I never in my life even noticed the activation option on any of my previous systems. I probably just downloaded a movie and watched it and it must auto activate that system. So basically if I sold the last system to a friend who moved or to gamestop and didn't have proof of that sale , i could never again spend any money on the PSN network for videos.
I told the guy that and he said pretty much yep your basically screwed if you can't prove you sold the last PS3. The problem with that logic is if I was really screwed I would be selling this system tomorrow and Sony loses out on a guy like me who spends a ton of money on systems, games and movies. I won't really be screwed because I also own a 360 and can get movies from there , I have netflix and of course on the internet you can get anything you want for nothing anyway. This is just a lot of hoops to jump through is all. I know its my fault but does this sort of thing also happen with the 360? I would imagine it doesn't.
