For me Cashews and Almonds are tied. I've never had Pistachios, they look like work w/ the whole shell thing :)

Cashews and pistachios are almost an even tie for me, but on a desert island, I'd go for the cashew, so that got my vote.

Cashew butter is really great. The kind I get is East Wind brand... I think it's actually from a commune.
It's really creamy, and a lot richer than peanut butter.

Pistachios for sure. They're the least messy and easiest to take out of their shells; except when you get one completely sealed and no chance of prying it open with your fingers or nails.

Seriously, the exclusion of macadamias is a crime against existence itself. They're delicious, cruncy and are loaded with good fats. Roasted with some salt and they are full of win and awesome.

While Cashews are good in their place, I am going to have to go with the Pistachio. No other nut is capable of holding onto other flavors as well. There is a great place that sells an amazing Hot Onion-Garlic pistachio that can't be beat. I'd offer up a link, but their site is down at the moment.

Even the Pistachios that are unopenable are still covered in delicious coating. I was told once they were like mussels: If they're not open even slightly, they were bad/unripe. And when I forced one open once, it wasn't as delicious as the others.

Also, aren't Macadamia trees disappearing in the wild because they breed like dittos? Like, there are less pure Macadamia and more half-breeds?
