Most modern rap is actually quite fun to listen to. Just don't take it seriously. Most rap has a decent beat, and if you loosen your tie a bit and listen it is absolutely hysterical.
Who can't enjoy deep lyrics like "To the windows! To the walls! Till the sweat drops down my balls! And all these bitches crawl! Aww, skeet skeet motherfucker! Aww, skeet skeet god damn!"

I do not approve of that shit though. Really, if my kids listened to that, I would punish them.

I used to be of the exact same mindset as you. I changed my mind on a road trip with my ultimate team. We played the worst rap we knew through the whole car ride while rocking some MarioKart DS. It was SICK. I was able to just relax, listen to it like a joke and laugh my ass off.
The other thing is there is some really good rap. None of it is very popular, but Blue Scholars, Jedi Mind Tricks and Deltron (from the people who bring you Gorillaz) is actually really good music.
