Did anyone else pick this (http://www.impulsedriven.com/spectro) up? It's a really cool mix of strategic turn-based fantasy and collectible card game. Richard Garfield (of Magic: the Gathering fame) and Apus Software (developers of Astral Magic) got together and produced this lovechild.
The best thing about it is that there are no "card packs" to buy. The game has the complete "deck" available. I know that for some, that would actually be a drawback, but for me it's a good thing.

Yep. Bought this the day is was available. Love it. But then against I LOVE Astral Master and those kinds of games. Really well done and very addictive. I also love how you unlock cards and you play.
Good times.

I've played the demo quite a bit and like it. My only annoyance is that I can't pick what cards to put in my deck. But I guess that would unbalance things since there are some pretty overpowering combinations of cards.

Some people hate the randomness of the "decks" since you don't actually get to build them prior to battle. I find that it keeps my OCD nature reined in so I can actually enjoy the game without spending hours crafting a perfect deck. That's always been part of my problem with CCG games. I get too involved with the stats and tweaking and never get to play the game.
I'm the same kind of gamer that loves the text/stat sports management sims genre, so you can understand how time-consuming and addictive it is for me to be faced with creating decks in normal CCGs.

I'm not really a stat tweaking kind of person. It just sort of bugs me that sometimes the only reason I got stomped was because someone put up a row of phoenixes and then kept their fire above 10 or something like that. I still like the game though.

That looks good, but I hate that you have to buy card packs to "keep up" with everyone else.

You don't. Well at least last time I played it I didn't. I think I bought one card pack and had a 9-1 record. And with the basics in the starter game I have maybe 6-3 I think. But ya I see what you mean.

Sanctum looks a lot like Pox Nora, which I really liked. Might check it out.
SoE apparently own Pox Nora now, so I can't play that anymore.
I vowed never to support SoE again after they destroyed Infantry.

I love and adore Pox Nora in all ways.
Did not know that SoE owned them.
But man Pox Nora is like a drug to me. So casual yet detailed, amazing to look at yet so simple.

Yeah I had a nice Ironfist Stronghold army going. I loved being able to defend until the enemy had all but broken themselves on my defensive line, then almost casually walking into their base and wiping out their shrine.
I couldn't for the life of me beat my brother's Forsaken Waste (I think that was the name. The undead guys) army though.
