I never played the original but looking forward to trying this. The official website is up here (http://www.populousds.com/). Anyone else picking this up when it's out?

I think I'll pass. I played the original and the PC remake (back in 2001?) and both were very shallow in game play, at least for me. You primarily end up doing the same thing over and over again in each level. Though, completely destroying the enemies city by "sinking" or lowering their base into the surrounding water never got old :)

I wondered of those who played it would likely return to try. This is a game i hear mentioned about as a "classic" and any gamer should play. Depending on the game shallow game play sometimes works...derivative gameplay? I love Assassins Creed for it's claimed "shallow" game play...others didn't...so I guess i'll have to play to see which shallow gameplay it falls under :)

There was a remake? Wasn't that like Populous 3?
Anyway, I just checked the site and I hate that art style, yuck. The game looks the same as it did years ago, that's good, I think.

I was referring to Populous:The Beginning. Here's the Wiki
Populous: The Beginning (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Populous:_The_Beginning)
Though I guess one could argue that this game had a different feel and play style than its predecessors.

I've played this. The Japanese cart had already been translated to English, it just took a bit of "tweaking" to get access to them.
It was a lot of fun, it worked well on the DS. There were a few limitations but nothing that broke the game.

What we really need is a remake of PowerMonger ;)

I've been waiting for this game. The SNES version was like crack and I played that for hours straight.
I remember it having 999 scenarios and I played through about 400 of them.
