How fast do you guys type?

My fastest ever has been 120 wpm, but I captured a 115 just a bit ago. The site is here: http://play.typeracer.com/

Whee.

I tend to hover around 70-100wpm. In my heyday I would hit as high as around 110-120 or so. Used to spook the people doing the office tests for temp services. ;)

90 words per minute, and I got to type some lyrics from Another Brick in the Wall. We don't need no education.

I'm slow compared to you guys. At least on this computer, anyway. I just got a Mac a little while ago, and I'm at least 10-20 wpm slower on it. I got an 85 on the practice test. :\

Aww. As long as you aren't doing what my dad does (the ol' hunt 'n peck method), who cares?

Your speed: 37 wpm

Haha, I guess you're right. It's just that after seeing everyone else type so many wpm faster than me, I feel like my e-peen (e-boobs?) got smaller. :p

It's the thought behind the words you write, not the speed at which they come out. :D

Same here (as far as typos go)

If I didn't make so many damned mistakes I would be ~110 every time.

Oh, what test were people doing where it gives you speed and accuracy? I was doing the races where it won't let you continue until you fix all typos.

Edit: Oh... I see where it shows you your accuracy.

I have around 45 wpm, but this is a new keyboard. I'd be a bit better with my old one. Still a bit sad.

114, 99.6% accuracy on my second race. It was 105 in the first race and they made me take a little typing test to prove I was human, which must be new, as I was getting these scores at the site a few months ago and there was no check. Who's sad enough to cheat at TypeRacer?

On my tiny Aspire One keyboard I can still get around 80-95 with 97-99% accuracy. Yay for tiny girl hands, I guess.

It would be totally freak if you had large man hands.

I was thinking this...

But also found this. Science of Sleep, good movie.

101 wpm, 99.4%, and I got the speed check too. God that's one annoying captcha and in the end I was "certified" to type at 82wpm because I couldn't read some of the words.

True, having huge man hands would be scary. I've heard over and over that Science of Sleep is fantastic, but every time I've watched it, within the first 15 minutes ... I've fallen asleep :o

Weird... I hit "race again" and got into some race against 2 other people, and I won with 111wpm with 100% accuracy, while the second place guy was 110wpm, and I got the speed test captcha again.

That captcha is making me not want to give this site another try :(

It's close to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind for me. Really really dig it. Sings to me for some reason. It is pretty slow though. You got me there. :o

The way the Captcha works:

If you get over 100 wpm, then you are required to do the captcha. To make sure you aren't cheating, you must pass the captcha with at least 79 wpm. What ever you do actually type on that captcha test, verifies how fast you can type at your maximum. It will only prompt you to retake the test if your best speed improves over 25%. So for example, if you do the captcha test and get 79 wpm, you can type at 97.5wpm maximum, without having to retake the test. This is kinda pointless, because it wouldn't prompt you in the first place, since it isn't 100 wpm.

It works something like that.

LOL. We always have to go for the high score, even when the game is stupid.

But I'm also an old man (40 year old non-virgin).

I was averaging around 85, thought I was going to do better than that.

Surprisingly that website is a lot of fun, haha. I just spent like 20 minutes just typing.... hrmmm.

I actually really like both movies (I'm a big Michel Gondry fan), but Eternal Sunshine was much better, in my opinion.

I think so, too - that, and if it is being dictated. Also, the sudden burst of red (and, depending how fast you are, a stream of backspacing) really through me off.
