View Full Version : Deathmatch!!!

I read 1fort, the blog of a guy who used to do a Half-Life 2-based comic called Concerned and still occasionally updates another site following an attempt to live a 'normal' life in Oblivion. In any case, I just read one of his most recent posts, "Teamwork is so 2008 (http://www.1fort.com/blog/teamwork-is-so-2008/)" and now I've got a growing hankerin' for some free-for-all deathmatch like the good old days.
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, when it was first released, gave me perhaps the greatest pure joy I have ever experienced in a first-person shooter. I'm sure at least most of the regular TF2/L4D folks 'round here have it, so I think it would be fun if we raided some empty server on a Tuesday or Thursday in the near future and killed the heck out of each other.
Anyone else interested?

I don't even have it installed. People still play HL2DM?
I'm currently getting my free-for-all kick through Quake Live. Nothing like Instagib to sharpen your reflexes.

I too have been rocking the instagib. Those are some damn fun times. I would be in for some HL2DM also though. Did they ever make a killbox for it?

I have access to all the Unreals through Steam (though I'd have to redownload), but figured they wouldn't be as community accessible as HL2DM. Instagib UT/UT2003 is easily one of my favorite things ever, though.
Yes, some people still play it, and there's a killbox map. I just spent some time playing it. The unfortunate thing for me is that none of the popular servers are normal DM or, if they are, they use Killbox or freaky rules. Killbox is kind of nice, but I think there are too many rocket launchers and there's scarcely any opportunity for clever tactics like what can be found with the original maps.
Of course the idea is to raid an empty server, so there should be plenty for the picking that are actually standard DM.

I remember HL2 DM.. it was the one that I played quite a bit when HL2 was new. Everyone wanted to play with the Gravity Gun.

This t-shirt (http://store.valvesoftware.com/productpages/apparel/product_HL2DMShirt.html) says everything about what I loved in HL2: DM. Toilets to the head were HILARIOUS!
I'm usually down for some DM on the weekends. Let me know, I'll try and be there.

Give me your names in the Quake beta. I could use a few more people in my friends list.
