According to a rough translation of Seaman creator Yoot Saito's blog by Offworld, a Nintendo DS version of the classic, disturbing Dreamcast game Seaman appears to currently be in development.

Seaman is a virtual pet-style game centered around a fish with a human-like face. The original game took advantage of the Dreamcast's microphone support by allowing user interaction with the often-surly Seaman.

The blog post also suggests that the already-announced iPhone version of Seaman 2, Gabo, has been finished for some time. The reason for its delay? Apple has "expressed displeasure" with the unique gameplay.

Please? Man, I loved that little thing, as pointless as it really was. This would be the perfect "game" for the DSi Ware.

I'm not sure communicating with a human headed fish is unique gameplay :). I'd love to see Seaman DS although it will be interesting to try to talk to my Seaman through my DS.

Edit: I'm with Gorvi. A good title for the DSi...

I've always wanted to play the god damn thing!

Human fish heads, that's all I want.

At first I thought this thread was going to involve some sort of porn or hentai game.

Then I remembered Seaman.

I have always wanted to play it, but never got the chance. The fact that the DS comes with a microphone built in does make it an easy match. Then again, sitting on the bus yelling at an virtual creature would probably make people stare.

I hate any game that makes me interact with the mic on the DS.

"Why is that crazy fellow at the other end of the subway car yelling into his hands?"

I loved Seaman when he lived on my Dreamcast lo those many years ago (I just found the box this weekend while cleaning up some boxes from the storage unit). I'd be so happy if it made its way to my DS.
