Star Wars: The Force Unleashed who were a bit disappointed by the final product (70-73 on Metacritic) may want to hold off on selling the game to Little Jimmy down the block.

Lucasarts has announced that they will be delivering a boat load of new content via downloadable content later this year for the PS3 and 360 versions of the game. First up - and of slightly less interest - will be a pack new character models, which will let you play through the single player campaign as either Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Kit Fisto (yeah, I'm not sure who the last two are either).

The second, more interesting pack, will include a whole new campaign. In this campaign the Apprentice travels to the Jedi Temple on the Imperial Throneworld of Coruscant.

Producer Hayden Blackman describes the level the new campaign is set on as "smaller than...the junk planet Raxis Prime...but it's larger than Cloud City"

Blackman also teased that more DLC levels like this are the pipeline: We had a list of 20 locations in our exploration phase," he said. "Those got whittled down. Which ones were viable and which weren't. The temple hung on and hung on and hung on. We had to make cuts right before production and it was one of those." --
"We brainstormed a ton of locations," he said. "There's easily another two dozen we could make into levels. This is a good way to continue the story."
"I wouldn't rule out any future content on The Force Unleashed."
No firm dates or prices for the packs were disclosed.

Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Kit Fisto (yeah, I'm not sure who the last two are either).

Geez, how could you not know who they are?!?!?!?!? (eh, they're not that important, but both members of the Council during the Clone Wars. Ki-Adi-Mundi was the guy with the tall head and got ambushed by the Galactic Marines on Salemeci, the ice battle in Episode 3. Kit Fisto was mister smiley Jedi in Ep 2, and was killed by Palpatine/Sidious when Mace Windu went to arrest Palpatine.)

It's good to see them adding in the levels that were cut, but there were issues beyond the levels. If they can add some tweaks, some of the issues could be resolved. It's also cool to see them support the game beyond release, but I really don't want to pay for stuff that should have been there from the beginning.

If these are free, I'll consider picking the game up.

Rent it. Seriously, I finished the game (both endings) in a weekend. Flawed, but still worth it for the story. Still, once you've seen what the story has to offer...well, there's not a lot else there.

I thought Lucas laid off everybody who worked on this?

Maybe that's why it felt so unfinished...they were busy working on the DLC before they got shitcanned.

Very cool. Good way to add a bit of longevity to a one night game.

Ummm why not add Jedi people like. Yoda, Mace, even the emperor.

Because that would be an intelligent decision by Lucasarts. Have you played the game? Intelligent decisions are not their strong points.

Better yet where's Kyle Katarn. You're right, they aren't bright. :)

Unless this game was just a demo for the next Jedi Knight game.

I would love a campaign where you get to hunt down and destroy the designers of the Star Destroyer tug o' war.

I would like to chain those people down and make them play that sequence over and over for eternity.

Agree 100%

it's a good game, not great, but it's got a good story.
A bit of a button masher, with a pinch of finesse, but worth a rental at least.

it's been entertaining me while I wait for the three "F's" start to hit later this month...

Fable, Fallout, and a Fuckton of other shit to follow shortly after

How do you add Luke Skywalker to The Force Unleashed?

After episodes 1, 2, 3 THIS is where you develop continuity and theme issues?

The same way you add midichlorians?

Just finished this last night. Took me all of about 12 hours, so it's a nice weekend rental. I completed the Light ending. I assume the Dark ending is different only in how it completes the last chapter and the epilogue remains the same?

I liked the story and respected that they didn't pull every 'name-brand' Star Wars character out of the woodwork in order to make the game sell better (sure, they kinda did, but it worked in how they presented it - e.g. Proxy). The story stays pretty true to the lore and fits nicely between Eps. 3 and 4.

A bit too much reliance on QTEs to finish bosses and larger opponents. It would've been nice to grab a Rancor and toss him against the cliffs until he died since Starkiller is apparently strong enough to bring a Star Destroyer down. But no, apparently you can only kill them by pressing a sequence of buttons.

Sir, I ask that you turn in your Nerd card. If you do not know the identity of two of the greatest Jedi masters of all time, then you have no business having one. :)

Even greats get outclassed. Talking about Kit. Didn't the other guy get killed by storm troopers?

He got taken out by the Star Wars equivalent of a .50 cal MG and a bunch of clone troopers. And was shot in the back. On a bridge. While it was snowing.

The epilogue is completely different depending on whether you do the Light or Dark side. The Light side ending is 'canon', the Dark side ending is creepy/awesome.

Anyone care to PM me or 'spoilar' code it here for me? I'm returning the game today.

Just beat it again, takes about 15 mins. You get achievementz omg!!11

For the dark side ending, you kill Darth Vader and attempt to kill the Emperor, but he pwns your ass and then remakes you into an even creepier Darth Vader-rapist cyborg, much like in the ending of Episode 3.
