Hah. I bought Peggle on Tuesday, even though I figured that it would probably end up a weekend deal in the next few months - because that's the way my life goes - but I didn't expect it would be a mere handful of days later.

Ooh, Peggle. I've futzed around with the online version and enjoyed it enough. $4.99 on Steam? Sold! On to downloading it and wasting more time at work.

Thanks for the update. I often miss out on these as well.

No, it's probably close. I'd bet that's why this is on sale.

Edit: Peggle Nights (http://store.steampowered.com/app/3540/) is now up on Steam in the coming soon section.

I was just farting around, and there is a lot on there in the 10 -20 dollar range. BIA Earned in Blood, IL-2 1946, Bioshock, Prey, Psychonauts, Advent Rising, Indigo Prophecy.

I know it is the Holiday Season, but there is a lot of stuff on there for low prices.

This is not a commercial.

I would love to pick up Pyschonauts, but after getting burned by Beyond Good and Evil I'm wary of picking up older games on Steam.

I did pick up Peggle over the weekend though. I've played Peggle Extreme enough that 5 bucks is more than worth it.

I bought it many moons ago, but just never got around to playing much. I bought it for $5 as well when it was previously on sale, so it's not biggie that I haven't played it much.

If you like Day of Defeat, but want it to be grittier, slower and more realistic, then Red Orchestra is a good buy. Still seems to be some decent number of people playing.

RO is well worth the $5. It's a little slower paced, but I don't think I've every played an FPS that better straddles action and simulation as well as RO does. Buy it.

Eets (http://store.steampowered.com/app/6100) is the weekend deal (posted kind of late). Any good?

It has its moments. If you liked World of Goo, Lemmings, you will probably like Eets. It is a simple "use these goofy tools to get to the end goal" kind of puzzle game. It's mor interresting mechanic is how it uses emotion to effect how little Eets moves and behaves.

Arphahat
11-09-2008, 12:31 AM
Hey, Audiosurf is also still 75% off. If anyone doesn't have that game, or knows someone who doesn't have it, now is the time to buy it. $2.50 is a steal.

If you want gifts, but don't want to send them now, use your own email address for the gift. Then, just ignore the message. When you want to give it (at Christmas, for instance), select "Games->Manage Gifts and Guest Passes..." and resend the gift to the person of your choice.

Apparently, this method is endorsed by Steam, since I sent their helpdesk a question and that is what was suggested to me.

About Eets, it reminds me of a cross between Lemmings and the Incredible Machine. It is an easy $2.50 worth of fun.

I played Overlord on GameTap and had a blast. If you haven't already played it, I would recommend it. $10 is pretty good, though once I finished it, I didn't have much reason to go back; you might want to consider playing on GameTap instead.

It is similar to Pikmin with the way you control your horde and the different goblins. However, you also have weapons and such and can battle with just your main avatar.

Sorry man, it went off sale yesterday. :\

Oh well, too many games to play right now anyway.

I'd normally be really sad as I've been wanting to pick up TQ for a while but I'm in HK right now and on saturday before I leave I'm finally picking up Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Fallout 3, Gears 2, Assassin's Creed, Banjo Kazooie, Prince of Persia and Mirrors Edge.

Been holding out buying games for months til I came here where they're nice and cheap (and yes, legit, as I have a Japanese 360).

Thanks for the info though, I can't access the US steam store online from either Aus or HK so it is hard for me to check what's on sale when.

Open world FPS set in an apocalyptic dead zone around Chernobyl where mutants roam and strange anomalies dot the barren landscape. You're an amnesiac looking for what happened to you. Buggy game but mods make it better and the atmosphere and scenery alone are worth $5.

For $75 you get Dawn of War + all expansions, Titan Quest and expansion, Company of Heroes and Expansion, Stalker, and several other THQ games. It's a steal.

Civ IV Complete for $25 is also a must buy. Civ III Complete is $4 for those who are interested.

Mot, Violent, and I were planning on playing 4 player Titan Quest co-op. Want to join us?

It's absolutely worth $7.50 as long as you realize that you are getting one of the best medieval combat sims on the market. The rest of the game such as the faction warfare, prisoner management, etc isn't so great. Just play it as if the strategic map is just a menu to choose skirmish missions and you'll love it.

I-Fluid is neat, if a little odd. I played through the first four levels and had a good time. I need to get back to it at some point. You control a droplet of water and navigate through highly realistic environments. You have to watch out for things that will make you dry up or evaporate (such as paper or a hot stove), and in later levels there are also insects that will try to drink you up. It's played from the perspective of games like Chibi Robo and Toy Commander, wherein everything seems really big.

I haven't played Multiwinia, but I have played quite a bit of Darwinia, which is the single player game that came out before Multiwinia, which is multiplayer-only. Darwinia is a great RTS with a very cool, unique visual style. The gameplay is very different from your average RTS. You don't have direct control over most of the units, and your objectives vary widely depending on the level you are playing. In one level you will be generating power to launch a rocket ship, while in another you will be getting a train system back online, etc. The game has a very simple, yet cool visual style - it actually looks quite a bit like Rez, now that I think about it.

From what I can gather from the cheapass boards, No, you most definitely can not gift games from a set. There are a couple of exceptions (Orange Box, L4D4Pack), but, for buying this pack that you already have games out of, you will just miss out on the extras you purchased and will essentially be paying for just a couple of the games (thus, getting a bad deal).

The only games that you can gift extra copies of are Valve titles, such as Half-Life 2 and the episodes. I don't think any other publishers let you gift their extra titles.

The package is still a good deal even if you are only getting it for two or three of the games, since most of them sell for $10 by themselves. I'm passing on it because I own all but one of the games in the pack, which defeats the purpose.

Skip it. Looks pretty, but it can be a real cheating pain in the ass.

I actually downloaded the video review off of Gametrailers the other day, and one of their big complaints was constantly getting knocked down. I can't recall which game it was, but a few years ago I played something that had a similar problem, and I remember wanting to hurl the disc across the room in frustration.

Knowing that Lost Planet has a similar problem makes me glad that I've avoided it.

Bought World of Goo, UT3, and Big Score pinball all for $22, pretty good deal and I know i'll play that pinball game for years, they are perfect to fire up and kill 10-20 mins.

Played some UT3, seems a nice looking old school arena shooter but I guess that was it's problem after everyone burned out on Quake 3 Arena, but I'll get $12 of fun out of it I'm sure.

Well, only because I don't have an overdraft facility. I've had to borrow money from my parents to pay the last two fortnights rent. So, in debt, just not to the bank.

Plus that $6 has to last me through to thursday. I can't believe how much I feel like a student right now. I just checked what I have in the fridge and it amounts to 11 litres of flavoured milk and 3/4 a carton of beer. Oh and regular milk.

But at least I have World of Goo, so all is right with the world.

Aquaria should be bought by all. I would praise it here, but since no part of the game doesn't deserve to be gushed on, so I'll just say watch the trailer or try the demo (http://www.bit-blot.com/aquaria/demo.html) (or just just buy it without doing either.)

Although it is to late I have enjoyed the game a lot, has been a little while since I played it though. It is not an easy game is the best way I can think of calling it. The hud is minimal basically a radar and how many reloads you have left (not how many rounds in the chamber though) with no crosshairs. The artillery and grenades are often exploding everywhere makes standing anywhere not in a hole dangerous. Then whenever you try and move someone is going to try and shoot you and you will have no clue where it will come from. It is a punishing game.

It gets intense and if that is the sort of thing you like I would have suggested you pick up the game especially for only $5. Anyway if it comes up again as the deal I'd recommend it.

I'm trying to recall if it even had the black border on Xbox, it may have been at that time before "widescreen" support was standard. Regardless, the game itself is so good, you won't be worrying about the screen rez once you're into it. Enjoy Wombat!
