I'm looking for a new cool keychain. The one I current have is simply a metal loop and doesn't have any swank purpose. :| Any suggestions on where to shop?

How about a Swiss Army knife with a built in thumb drive?

I have a beautiful red stop sign shaped one..."If found return to this address". It's the same thing we stick on our client's USB keys...so I figured it would work for my keychain as well...

A thumbdrive is actually an excellent idea. I think I'll have to look into that because I can't recall the numerous times I've been without one when I needed one...yes, I'm a nerd...fully employed...nerd...

I'm always afraid I'm going to leave it in the computer at work.

I'm afraid that some people that found it would read that as:
"If found steal everything at this address" :(

I had a mini-Leatherman tool (http://www.leathermanstore.com/leatmicmul.html) that was great. Always had to remember to unhook it if I was going on a plane.

Yeah, that's the worst thing you can put on your keys. Hell, even some people that wouldn't normally do that would be tempted to steal stuff from you. They would have easy worry free access.

This is what I use. My dad gave it too me after a business trip took him to Vegas about 7 years ago and I've used it ever since. It used to have the casino name on it but it's worn off. It's about 2x the size of a normal die. Not useful in the slightest but I think it's pretty cool. That and I'm always really lucky so it fits me.

I've thought about putting my thumb drive on it, but like was already mentioned, I'm too afraid of leaving my keys in the computer after class. So I just resort to carrying around a thumb drive in my other pocket.

Well, I should clarify, it's a mailing address for our head office in Tucson...no keys to anything that would help them.

Be careful with knives on keychains if you fly a lot.
You might forget it's on there and they will make you toss it :(

Actually other than the standard ring, I might use something like this (http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Steel-Apart-Key-ID-Badge-Reel-Belt-Chain/dp/B000O9KD5E/ref=pd_sbs_op_3).

But I think keychains are something that a man should outgrow, sort of like chain wallets.

It's been so long since I've seen someone wear a chain wallet....probably since I was in high school in the 90's.

Currently I'm using nothing but a Blizzard Authenticator. In the past, I've used a thumbdrive, and at one time a chibified-Veritech.

EDIT: Oh, I've also used a miniature Maglight as a keychain.

Yeah, the utilitarian thing I can get on board with. I'm talking about any sort of personality or fashion statement- on your keys ;)

It's been so long since I've seen someone wear a chain wallet....probably since I was in high school in the 90's.That's when I wore mine! Here in Austin you still see adult men with them on. Nothing says "28 going on 17" like a chain wallet.

Really? I find a key fob is useful for grabbing my keys out of a pocket full of miscellaneous crap (the fob, being less dense, tends to stick up further than the keys themselves). I use a leather one that once, long ago, had my university seal on it.

I keep one around for when I go on long motorcycle trips. I just put my drivers license, insurance card and essential credit cards in it and go.

It could be easy for a wallet to work it's way out of your back pocket when you're sitting in the saddle all day. Also, you sure don't want to be trying to pay for gas when you realize that you left you wallet at the last gas station 200 miles ago. I've always called it my Idiot Wallet.

Yeah... chain wallets were designed for bikers so they don't look silly in their natural environment.

Something tells me that Billy at the mall is not getting on a motorcycle, especially with his pants halfway around his ass.

The other end of the chain wasn't attached to a wallet. The Joker is completely obsessed about time and the synchronization of events. My guess, it was his pocket watch.

I had a chain wallet in high school. It was mostly because I was clumsy and I was afraid of losing my wallet. There was a guy who had a chain down to the ground. It was so long, that his wallet was stolen and he couldn't tell that they snapped the chain.

I really like Ryan Sandberg. At first I thought he was a doofus, but now I see he's actually a pretty cool doofus.

I have a rainbow six poker chip keychain. I'm also still dragging around the "99" from when I got out of high school. I might actually have to cut that one. I never really looked at my keys. I normally just use them.

I tend to switch between small multi-tools for my keys. It's remarkable how useful it can be to have a small screwdriver or pair of pliers handy sometimes. ThinkGeek had a few examples:

Lots of others out there, but you get the idea...I had the top one (which is probably pretty similar to the bottom one as well), and it was a pretty cool tool. Three things:
First, the bigger of the two screwdrivers is the strongest screwdriver I have ever used. It is a bit awkward to use, but if it fits into the screw, it will unscrew. Awesome.
The smaller of the screwdrivers was worthless. I don't think I ever got it to unscrew anything. Stupid.
The sides became loose after a few months (my need to fiddle with the thing is probably to blame) and became pretty worthless for staying on the keyring.

As for key chains, I just have a bottle opener. It's come in handy a bunch of times!

When I did my student teaching, my cooperating teacher kept all his keys on a Kubotan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubotan), which is quite the interesting little piece of equipment.

I have a lanyard on my keys, and that's it. (If you don't count my grocery store keycard and my library card.) It comes in handy as hell - it's always easier to snare the lanyard hanging out of my pocket when my hands are full.

I used to have a carabiner for my keys that I could just hook on a belt loop - but after busting a few too many loops, that idea went out the window.
