...you should definitely check out Eversion (http://zarat.us/tra/offline-games/eversion.html). It's a fun little hop 'n bop game with a classic twist: multiple worlds. At certain points in the game you'll have to press the everse button in order to pass previously inaccessible barriers in your quest to collect all the colored gems. You can find free links to the game here (http://zarat.us/tra/offline-games/eversion.html).
And, if you're still cautious, I'd recommend checking out this informative video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qcTBp8gpNM&feature=channel_page) from DeceasedCrab (http://www.youtube.com/user/DeceasedCrab).

Let's Play Eversion - 1 - Cocoron Clone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qcTBp8gpNM&feature=channel_page)

Yeah, this game starts all cute and cuddly, friendly and cute. Then it gets into a Cthuluesque bloodbath. Its quite good. We were chuckling about it earlier in IRC.

That's good. I was worried that no one was talking about the game, since I didn't see a thread, but I didn't consider the possibility of IRC discussions. I'm happy that people are simply playing Eversion.

I don't like DeceasedCrab (although, Monster Party is one of my all time favorite games), but this game seems cool (I had watched Kat play it the other day), and I have downloaded it to my PC to give it a whirl later.

That's alright, Kats, because I still like you.
I hope that sounded as creepy as I intended it to. ;)

I played and beat it yesterday...the last level's gems are HORRID, but it was worth the time I spent playing it. THe true ending was a huge WTF.
I highly recommend it.

It reminds me of an old generic NES platformer. I will try it out though and see how it is. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up feeling the same way as Hawkzombie regarding the level design because it does not seem that most people have that special knack for designing proper levels (it gets worse if you play flash based platformers *shudders*).
