Just out of curiosity. Has anyone else tried to drive that tank think while playing solo? I found it to be the worst controlling vehicle in a game that I've seen in a really long time.

Co-op it worked fine.

Yea i did the tank mission solo, it controls terrible and i now hate that section

I've only played it solo and I cannot believe Epic let it out like that. How hard is it for a company like Epic to make a steerable vehicle? Inexcusable. That level could've been epic - outdoors, large scale enemies, etc. Instead, I just wanted it to be over.

I actually wonder if anyone at Epic even played the game solo sometimes.

I would say the concept of the combat was great, but the implementation left something to be desired, at least on consoles. It's your perogative to disagree, but that's how I felt.
I agree with you here. I think that the tight confines of the game really hampered the combat a lot. They made a lot out of interacting with the environment and doing things like setting people on fire, shocking water, etc... Except 9 times out of 10 when I entered the room all the enemies would swarm me at the entrance. There was no way to go around them because the levels were all corridors, so basically I'd just end up shooting them all and then after they're all dead walk to the other end of the room past a ton of environmental setups that I had no use for anymore.

It was pretty epic, actually with the jumps and runs and what not. But I played it co-op without any problem.

It was pretty epic, actually with the jumps and runs and what not. But I played it co-op without any problem.Like I mentioned early, the co-op is fine. One player steers and the other aims the cannon. However, when you are solo, you can only go forward and reverse and turn the turret. The rest of the vehicle lags behind the turning turret. So not only can you only shoot what you are driving straight at, but the turning in general just sucks because of the lag between the turret and the vehicle itself.

We have another thread (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=2263)to talk about this stuff. There are still some people who are working through the game.

Thank you. I'm glad I finished the campaign this weekend (before I read that) because I hate spoilers. All of them.

I didn't have too much of a problem with it (the Centaur), but I did wish steering was on the left stick so I could move and aim in different directions. You know, like most other games do.

Just finished it this morning. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a nice Michael Bay-esque brain-free diversion from the rest of the stuff on my platter and for that I was thankful.

I'll take a break for a while but I'm sure I'll be back in for multiplayer over the weekend.

I've been Horde-ing locally for the past few days, and the last time I played Horde with CoGers was I think over the weekend. We disbanded before we could get anywhere near wave 50... but it'd be fun to give it a shot! I'm more interested in that than playing the other multiplayer modes right now.

Yes, but each player has their own difficulty so all you really need is someone to play with, you can do insane while your friend does it on easy

Likely by scaling modifiers. If you're playing on easy you do, for example, 2x damage and take .75 damage while someone on insane would do .75 damage and take 2x.

I think you have to unlock insane first, I havent tried it and I've already beaten the game so I cant check it for you.

when I played co-op earlier my friend had accidentally left it on insane, he kept gettin knocked down and almost dying while I was fine so I'm not sure if he just took more damage or they are more accurate when targeting him or what, but its definately harder.

I'm by no means a fan of the Halo franchise but, one night we went to a friends house and set up 2 360's, got a couple cases of beer, a few packs a smokes and a bunch of party favors we played the entire campaign on the highest difficulty. If it wasn't for that, I'd have nothing to gush over when it came to that series.

I'm usually one to bitch about bad vehicles, but the Centaur didn't seem too bad to me. I was expecting the ice sequence to be a major pain in the ass, but I only messed up once on that stretch.

Look, Epic, I understand that you're trying to change the pace up with all those vehicular sequences, but, damn it, why can't y'all make them smoother rides? It sort of blow my mind how far behind Bungie the rest of the industry is in terms of vehicular combat.

See I could control it fine, it was just that at a certain point, I had two flying Reavers, ground troops (with boomers), two troika turrets, and a missile barage comming at me, with a cliff right next to me. Having to drive to avoid fire and still be acurate enough to kill everything was a massive pain in the ass (on Hardcore, at least). I actually like the ice part.

Fair enough, now I just have to figure out how to add them retroactively, and I was rather vague on the end stuff such as saying you fight Skorge was rather expected and I only mentioned there were reavers and use of the hammer of dawn. Hardly as much damning as mentioning you drive a tank, raver, tank, whats the diff :)

The flying reavers seemed to be a bug. The first attempt at all the encounters had the reavers landing, but if you had to try it again, they would just fly around and be a general pain in the ass.

I finished insane, most of which was co-oping with different people. It was very hard, but doable. I did stall out on a few sections where I ended up getting maybe 2 checkpoints in 45 minutes, but those were solo and would have been easier in co-op.

The reason we started on wave 10 is because that's what wave we left off on last time we played on Insane. In retrospect, it probably would have worked out better if we could have started with weapons left over from a previous round (like mulchers and stuff). Oh well!

What I find particularily cheap about Kantus in the campaign is that they can summon tickers at will that literally come out of NO where like right around a corner where they POSSIBLY couldn't come from and blow you up instantly. Then don't even make their telltale clicking sound to warn you know they are coming. Also see bloodmounts.

Took the right (after losing like 4 times in a row on the left) Turret and a lot of perserverance and diligence. :D The reavers like to fly over the right side more than the left so you can get more shots off.

The level after this one was the real beeotch. I died in the court yard at least 20 times in a row, thanks to the Kantus whore who likes to spam summon Tickers. Bloodmounts and Maulers are really annoying especially when Dom is down ever 2 seconds.

Resurrecting the dead thread to bitch about the night I just had in Gears.

Fucking cheaters, man. I just don't get it. And one group was actively talking about how awesome it was to cheat. I filed my complaints against their team and avoided the players, but it's so frustrating. Then the next game two players on the other team were using an exploit. At least their other team members weren't happy about it, but it really ruins the game. And there's getting to be quite a few exploits that can be used (besides the old standby trick that was used against us today).

Patch it up, Epic/MS. This is my favorite game right now and it's just fucking borked.

As this was a shock to disgustipated, no i've never played GoW 1 and just got GoW 2 on a whim cause everyone talks about playing online. Well it's fun online...so it was worth it. But since I have it lying around...maybe i'll try to play through the single player campaign. Hell, maybe i'll get a tad better at playing...ok, I can fantasize can't I? :)

You mean when he's not ducked down in a corner totally zoned out. It was as if anxiety overcame him and he refused to move. My cries of pain did nothing to rouse him. I thought the game was broken during the last few sections with Dom.

Another reason why Co-op is the way to go.

And a reminder for anyone who hasn't, add CoGGoW2 to you friends list so everyone can find you for invites via Friends of Friends.

That sucks, dude. That's one of the reasons I haven't played any public matches yet (though I know I'll suck it up and play with randoms some time). What makes it more annoying is how you can't respawn immediately in some of the game modes, so you have to sit there and watch them be dicks until the round ends. I mean, it usually doesn't take that long, but it's still pretty frustrating.

Yes! I'm sure you'll get much better by playing the campaign.

Also: We all know you just got Gears 2 so you could have the Lancer. :p

The cheats are really getting silly in the game, you can't do 10 matches without someone or a whole team in at least half of them doing a bunch of exploits. After all of the shit in the first one you'd think they'd have tightened up this one, but it seems like there are more in this one and some have come back from the first.
