You know the drill guys. I saw that no one had carried over the tried-and-true Weekend Gamer topic from EA, and thought it'd be a prudent to create one myself; it always seemed pretty popular.
I'm going to try to get out to a Gamestop this weekend and pick up Blue Dragon, since it has now dropped down to $20. I may also pick up Iron Man on DVD. If I have the time, I also want to finish up Beyond Good & Evil, but I have a feeling I won't get all of this accomplished and end up spending half the weekend in front of a browser.
What plans are in store for the rest of you CoGs?

I'm by myself with my two sons (20 months and 5 months) until next Friday, so I'm not sure how much gaming I'll get in. FFXI, Wild ARMs XF, WipEout HD, and Disgaea 3 are all strong contenders if/when I get the time.

I'll probably end up playing a bunch of WAR this weekend, though I still have a lot of work to do this week. I might mix in some Mount and Blade or some Crysis Warhead, as well.

10-03-2008, 03:07 PM
Disgaea DS, Mega Man 9 and Super Metroid.
I really don't think I'll be playing much this weekend. Bachelor party tonight, another party tomorrow and football Sunday. Maybe some RB2 early Saturday, but not much.

I hear ya. I am probably going to get a little deeper into the game this weekend as well.
Beyond Fallout 1 I am going to play Carcassonne (board, not XBLA) on Saturday and that may evolve in to some SSBB or Mario Kart Wii. If I get some time to myself I have had a real craving for some Legend of Zelda so I think I am going to pick up my game of Ocarina of Time from where I left off. I could really use some dungeon crawling!

Huzzah! You continued it!
I think I've almost beaten the final boss in the "Get A Building Permit To Renovate My Basement" game. No wonder nobody bothers getting a permit if it's this much of a hassle.
Assuming my brain cools down from the stress that has been dealt it from the repeated trips to the city offices this week, I'll then get to start playing the "Rent A U-Haul Truck And Empty Out Said Basement" game, a game that I look forward to playing about as much as the new Wii edition of Roh-Sham-Boh (South Park Edition).
If/when I can peel myself away from those fun endeavours, I'll be playing some Wipeout HD, maybe some Persona 3, some R.A.D. (all on the PS3) and maybe some Mercs 2 on the 360. I might also fire up Rock Band 2, but I'm tired and probably won't muster up the strength this weekend.
I just downloaded Hinterland, so I'll probably take that for a spin. I'm also THIS close to finishing up Time Hollow, so that'll likely happen tonight and then I can get back to working on one of the many JRPGs on either the PSP or DS... I'm probably split between Tales Of The World on the PSP and DQIV/FFIV on the DS.
And to top it all off, I'm playing the "Fly To Fort Lauderdale" game on Sunday. WoO! A week (almost) with no kids. Huzzah!

Going to try and finish up Fallout 1 for the first time this weekend. Jeeze, why didn't I play this when it came out?!?!I'm in the same boat. I just installed Fallout 1 & 2 on my laptop and am slowly chunking away at them. I've started playing Fallout so many times but I always get distracted or bored or something. I'm going to toss on the 1.1 patch and try to get the Hi-res upgrade to work... that might help me stay focused.
It's what I hope to play while I'm down south this week.

I get to play the "Girlfriends father is visiting and sleeping on the couch" game Saturday / part of Sunday.
Then I get to start / finish a 5-6 pg paper.
Other than that, I want to squeeze in some UT3 and Witcher time.

Damn, Spigot...your games suck! :pTell me about it. I think I've developed my first migraine this week from playing them. It hasn't helped that we're going to be out of town for a good week or so and the contractors want to start when we get back... TOO MUCH STRESS!
I liken getting a permit for renovations to playing tennis... in the dark... with bricks. Only not as fun.

The Witcher, Hinterlands, probably a bit more Spore and I'll continue to let Colonization humiliate me.

Normally I'd be playing WoW, but there isn't a whole lot to do at the moment until WotLK drops, so it's a perfect time to go through the back catalogue and clear through some of these suckers. So this weekend, I'll be trying to finish off Bionic Commando and Castle Crashers and I may finally start Assassins Creed.

I was going to be playing the new FIFA, but my god damn cats just knocked over my 360 while I was playing it and the disc is totally fucked.
Brand new today, £40 down the hole :(
I hope to play some Tales of Vesperia if my hand holds up. Fuck it's annoying waiting on this thing to heal. I can't even do that thing guys do when they are alone. :o

I'm playing Megaman 9. I picked it up yesterday, and I'm at the first stage of Wily's Fortress now. I also bought Hinterland and will probably play that some more (very addicting game).
Other than that, I have Resistance that I just started up last week or so, and there is always WoW. If I take the time to play a hand held game, it will be Shiren the Wanderer since someone (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/member.php?u=57) was very kind and rescued me!

I think I'm on the last case of Phoenix Wright. Turnabout Samurai. I've been to court once or twice so, it should be ready to pop.
Then if I get my PSP charger from my brother, I can probably knock on Jeanne d'Arc. I just got Roger, and we are fighting the other guy with a bracelet. Again ready to pop.
And I'm on the fourth stage of Condemned 2. I'd like to take a bigger bite of that action.
And I can really see my self getting a little Wipeout HD action.
WILDCARD: I'll be checking Live to see if you guys are all in something like Bad Company, COD4, or even Shadowrun.

Demos this weekend, to see if there is anything I need to add to the ungodly list already created for the holiday season. I tried the Force Unleashed demo and I can wait until after Christmas, I think. I was hurling crates and bits of machinery around, which were exploding nicely as they smacked into walls. Then I picked up a little cleaning droid on accident, so I very, very gently set it back down. It stood still for a second or two then exploded. Turns out cleaning droids are the most volatile substance known to star-man!
Also, the Megaman 9 demo. Is hard.

I will be playing the "working on the Illustration project that is due Monday" all weekend. I expect to grind out 20 hours into this game alone.
There is also the "write 2 paragraphs in Italian" miniboss. This miniboss preludes the main boss of "Italian presentation at the end of the semester," so I need to do really well against this boss. I need to stock up on health packs, extra ammo, and make sure I have the right level maps.

Either way, enjoy. It's really fun. :)
Warhammer Online.
Maybe some Hinterlands. . . but though I enjoy the game, it doesn't have much staying power. If you've beaten it once, you've beaten it. There are so many things I can think of that would extend the life of this game enormously, and it was an awesome first play through. Definitely worth the $20. Hopefully, it will be a success and they'll be able to expand on it.
Might play a little WoW and do some Kara on my Druid. Nothing fancy but I haven't been in there yet on him and it might be a nice laid-back run before the expansion hits. Nothing fancy. Wrapped up The Darkness and am about half-way through Prey (picked it up for 3 bucks) and it's not awful. Not great, not awful. Fun to play around with in my down time.
Depending on what else happens I may be able to squeeze in a game of Arkham Horror.
going to play a luittle rock band one solo for a bit, Im fried from work this week so its probably going to be alot of vegging on my part. Plus we have football and i have the bosoxs game tomorrow so its going to be light gameing. Going to read some and finish re watching season 2 of entourage.

I received GRiD from gamefly this week. In short...
GRiD is my racing game of the year. Maybe the best I've ever played. I've only won one race, and it is difficult. However, I get such a sense of immersion with it like in no other racing game I've played. It has achievement candy as well.
The attention to detail is astounding. I'm sad we don't hear much about it because it's simply brilliant.

I've failed on the same map in Wild ARMs XF going on 13 times now. I want to kick a dev in the junk. I guess maybe I should just grind a bit, but I've been able to avoid that completely up to this point. It wouldn't be so bad, but you can't have any units die, and there's a turn limit.

Fifa 09. I am surprised over how much fun I am having. Can't wait until PES 2009 arrives so I can decide which game I'll stick with for the next year. PES has got some competition this year though.
But mostly I'll be watching movies. I got a bad cold or something, so concentrating while playing for long periods makes my head hurt. On the positive side I've watched like 5-6 movies I've been meaning to watch for a long time.
Playing through killer7 yet again because I love the game. Also playing WAR, which is pretty damn addictive when you've got a good setup for RvR.

I played a lot of Fifa yesterday, and it's great IMHO. I've tried the PES 09 demo, and while the gameplay is good, the presentation is just terrible compared to Fifa. I'm not sure if I'll pick up PES this year. I have to get tired of Fifa first.
