Is up apparently, because I saw people talking about it in places. So anyone getting this?

I sure am, Fable 2 is quickly becoming one of my favorite games of this generation. I can't wait to get my hands on this when I get home.

Downloading it now, I loved Fable II, and eagerly await more content.

I haven't picked up Fable 2 yet, but I think I may sometime in the next week or so. Word has it they're also fixing some bugs?

The one allows you to play co-op with people who have it.

The other is for people that want to play it solo or co-op with a buddy.

No, you can ONLY play it if you co-op with someone who purchased it.

Wait... so lemme see if I understand that correctly:

- 800 points = online co-op enabled (and, I'm assuming solo and offline co-op play)

- Free = solo and offline co-op play only

?

800 points is for the solo and allows you to invite someone

Free, you can play with someone who pays 800 points.

That's my guess, seeing as this would never be free for everyone.

From what I've heard 4-5 hours. Which means 10 for me (cause I like to fuck around a lot) and 2-3 for others:P.

There's also talk of 3 temples on the island, new outfits, new loot, oh and new achievements
and a resurrection shrine

Exactly. It's like the Crackdown content.

You can play with someone who has it for free.

But if you want to host a game or play by yourself you have to pay.

I believe you are wrong on this. The 800 pt download is Knothole Island, period. But, when you download the pack, it changes something with the game, and you are unable to play (regular) co-op with other people unless they download the free or pay-for pack (it's like a patch). You can only go to Knothole Island if you fork over the money.

Also, I think the free download has some clothes or something.

Edit: Yeah, from the description (http://http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/01/13/dlc-fable-ii-knothole-island.aspx):

If you have the Knothole Island (Premium) pack and want to play co-op in any part of Albion, your co-op partner must have the Fable II Knothole Island (Free) or (Premium) pack. To enjoy the complete Knothole Island experience in co-op play, both players must download the Knothole Island (Premium) pack.

Fabulous new bugs:

So, I was getting towards the end of the new DLC, when I decided to mess around with some of the new clothes. I was using the Outfits option, switching through various things, and decided to use the No Clothes option to clear the clothing options. After using the No Clothes option, I was no longer able to use any other Outfit options. In fact, I can't equip clothes anymore, period.

I saved/quit, and started the game up again. Same issue. I shutdown the console, came back into the game, started the character up, and again, the same issue. I can no longer use clothes, which basically means that the DLC is mostly worthless. This needs to be fixed, ASAP.

EDIT: Fixed itself, I don't know what happened. Might have something to do with swimming. (http://community.lionhead.com/forums/3280453/ShowThread.aspx#3280453)

I only just got to the first main city in Fable 2 (after leaving the Gypsy camp) and haven't played much since. After I manage to get through the meat of the game, I'll grab this if people seem to think it's good. It's nice having a game with backup DLC waiting in the wings as I don't have to sit on a game before deciding to play it.

Woops, started downloading the free one then came on to check what the difference is.

I'll have to go change to the 800 point one and download again! Argh!

I'll have to turn off the orbs as I don't think I can take all the kiddies shouting "co-op if you downloaded the pack"

Will play tonight and let people know what I think

You can just download the free one and then buy the premium one, they're the same thing. The premium you pay is for the license to use the content, the content itself is identical either way.

EDIT: Completed the new DLC in full, btw. Fun quest, decent dungeons, good vanity loot.

Why unnecessarily confuse people by making this optional if all it does is fix co-op between people with the pack and people without it?

I didn't design the thing, I'm just a delivering a PSA to stave off the number of people who will come in here complaining that they can't play Knothole Island co-op when they didn't download it. Which will still happen.

I'd imagine it's because it's not needed to play the game and will take up space on your HDD otherwise.

Especially now that you want every bit of space to install games. I guess I'm just spoiled by PC patches!

Yeah, it's weird anyway. You still have to download the Island, but you can't travel there unless you pay. I don't know why they didn't just do it like they did with the Crackdown stuff, considering your character wouldn't be carried over anyway.

So like... is there only 1 quest line on the new island? I can't seem to find anything else

You may need to leave the island, and come back.

Outline of all DLC content:

There are three temples in the quest line to gather all of the weather totems.

There is also the Mystery Box or whatever, where you can trade fairly worthless items for some awesome vanity equipment (several outfits, several weapons).

There are three achievements to get, one for gathering all of the totems, one for getting all of the Mystery Box prizes, and one for gathering all of the books on the History of Knothole.

Going through the three temples, you should gather a pretty awesome suit of armor, the texture of which will change with your alignment.

You can buy/find missing pieces of outfits from the original game, such as the Assassin gear, and the Tart stuff.

There is a new store which sells equipment with up to four open augment slots, and also a lot of high end augments to go with them.

There are new dyes to acquire, and at least one new hair style (Lady Grey's, I believe).

That is all.

A 900 MB patch? If I didn't want to co-op and didn't want the DLC then that would be a serious hit on my HD. It doesn't just fix that, it installs the whole island.

Doh, already mentioned:P

I'm enjoying it. I'm still in the middle of a lot of other quest things so I tried to mix it up. Getting the items for the surprise boxes on the way. Love the look of the sun scorched island.

It's not a patch.. MS has rules about what sort of content is allowed in a title update (patch), a new island is not the kind of content they even want to humor as allowing in a patch. as the theory goes about the slippery slope of release now, patch later and so forth. Also a 900 MB patch would fuck anyone on a Core unit.

You beat it already!? Jeez man. I think I'll pass on this one then, if it's that short!

Narradisall

Well I completed it in one sitting last night, totaling a little under 3 hours. I also spent a lot of time faffing around in the box of Secrets store finding stuff and book hunting.

I will say I enjoyed the pack. The Knothold Armour is cool as is the Greasers suit and the 'Evil' armour (both of which come from the Box of Secrets).

I think for 800 points it was extremely short. If I had to price it I would have said 400 for the amount of actual play time you get out of it, and whilst the new weapons (check out the new 4 augment slot Master weapons) and the new augments (some cool new ones) and armour were all nice additions, but Fable 2 is hardly difficult enough for any of it to be needed.

I do hope they keep up with some more DLC as I must say most companies tend to release one then stop (I'm looking at you Mass Effect), but in future I may wait on DLC for Fable 2 until I find out the rough time to complete for the price. I had heard reports of around 5 hours for Knothold Island but I seriously doubt it would take anyone this length of time as I must have only spent about 90 minutes on the main quest line.

I played for around an hour and got to the 3rd temple. Having already completed the main game, the combat in this DLC was the easiest thing I've ever done in a video game (save for You Have To Burn The Rope). I like having DLC like this, but agree that 800pts is twice what it should be going for. Still, I got my doggie back, and I was only too happy to come back to Albion for some new content. Gotta love the bikini tops on all the women when you bring the sun back ;)

I can't explain why I like Fable 2. It just has this.....charm.

Also, seeing RockBandit (i forget where the x's go in your name) running around Knothole was great. It never gets old seeing people you know in a single-player game. Being able to talk to them was an even-more-brilliant touch. When the game first came out, my friend's orb showed me where a certain vendor was. That still makes me smile.

If you're expecting an epic new quest, you'll be disappointed. You're looking at 3-4 hours of playtime. Now, I played through it twice already, and am on my third play through; it's worth it to me. If you only sort of liked Fable 2, then I'd say you should give it a pass.

Hey, Since you've beaten it a couple times, was there anything worthwhile in those last few frozen chests?

Nope, I don't think there was anything worth getting in those chests. I ran back through the Storm Temple (where you get the Ice Totem) to get that frozen chest that was right outside, but it was just some garbage cutless. Yeah, I like Hal's Rifle, it goes well with the rest of his equipment. Unfortunately, even with the new augment store, I can't get that equipment set to be worthwhile. Hell, with the new four-slot weapons, even the Daichi and Red Dragon are getting out-paced.

A lot of DLC is just not worth the price. I'm a sucker. So I want to get all content for games I like. The problem with DLC is, it never seems to go on sale since there is no competition. An expansion pack for a PC game may come out as $20, but goes down after a little while. Ah, the good old days. I can't wait until all games are completely DLC, and never EVER go down in price. Oh yeah.

I'm in the same boat. Content like this isn't spectacular most of the time, but is still worth my money because I'm a sucker for Fable 2 or Fallout 3.

That said, Shivering Isles must have been the best DLC add on ever on console. Now that was value for money.

Hrm, I did the first quest on Knothole Island last night, but then that's it, no other quests were offered. But I know there's 2 more at least and other stuff to unlock. I assume it's because the character I tried it on is still right near the start of the game (doing the Will User quest). I'll have to try it tonight with my game-finished character and try to get my dog back (thank god they included that, otherwise I'd have abandoned him completely).
