In a sign that maybe Microsoft isn't completely dead in the land of the rising sun, Reuters brings word (http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSTRE49218520081003) today that the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 for the month of September by over 20,000 units. Meanwhile, Nintendo continued to dominate, outselling both combined.
Microsoft sold 53,547 units of the Xbox 360 in the four weeks to September 28, compared with 33,071 units of the PS3, data from Enterbrain showed on Friday.
Nintendo Co Ltd safely maintained its leading position in the Japanese console market, having sold 109,548 units of the Wii during the month.
With the price cut to the 360 in Japan, as well as a slew of new RPG's, it's no wonder that Microsoft is making headway. Perhaps next weeks Tokyo Game Show (http://tgs.cesa.or.jp/english/) will allow Sony to sound off on how they plan on taking the momentum back.

Wait a fucking minute? What the hell are they using all these Xbox 360 for? If it's gaming, what the hell are they getting we don't. They sell out in all of Japan in August. Then outsell Ps3 the following month. The Tales series following can't be that big is it?
Then your link has this following story below. Infinite Undiscovery, price cut help Xbox 360 outsell Wii in Japan! Yay Japan! Are you finally realizing that there is a great game console sitting in all of your stores, waiting to be bought?

So two Japanese games is enough for the 360 to do better. Last Remnant should help them a little more then.

Hit your key demos and you'd be shocked what could sell.
Tales of Vesperia really is an amazing game Xerxes. I think they picked it up for this one killer-app much more than they picked it up for Infinite Undiscovery (a mix of bad and good).

Last Remnant looks alot better that IU but it's multiplatform. Shouldn't sell to many systems. I figure most Japanese have either a PS3 or 360 buy now right.

6 months is a long time for gamers, and mass-market are not likely to know it is cross-platform. They'll just see it on shelves during Xmas.
Still, again, Tales of Vesparia is the killer-app, and the Xbox 360's sales in Japan are supply constrained, so they can expect good sales for a little while. . . "great" being a tiny amount by US comparison. . . then again, if they change their image there, the console is finally priced to sell to mass-market.
Also, mostly the Japanese have Wiis. They were slow to buy the super-expensive PS3 just like US consumers.

I also like to think that the wii's surrealistic qualities struck a familiar chord with the Japanese consumer. Also, kudos to Microsoft for taking that heat to Japan.:D

Do you think this will help 360 get even more JRPG love?
I would also like to see disgaea on the 360 if they ever decide to actually write a new engine and get some new sprites drawn for HD displays
