I never seen Atlus localizing so many titles at once. I guess Handhelds are relatively easy to work with. Anyway,

ATLUS DELIVERS HARDBOILED RIGHTEOUSNESS THIS MARCH WITH OLD SCHOOL BEAT 'EM UP
TOKYO BEAT DOWN™ FOR NINTENDO DS™

In Tokyo Beat Down, you shoot first, punch second, kick third, break for lunch, and then ask questions... if there's time. Every sort of crook, hoodlum, thief, criminal, traitor, drug dealer, murderer, assassin, terrorist, arsonist-well, you get the idea-is scheming to take over the streets of Tokyo, and only one police unit has what it takes to stand in their way. The most vicious, merciless, unyielding team of enforcers: the Beast Cops.

This is arcade beat 'em up action at its finest. Hurl enemies into each other, chain together combos, execute special moves and throws, and then let loose on your foes with an arsenal of firearms, ranging from the small to the obscenely large. (Rocket launcher, anyone?) Your enemies don't just die; they flicker into nonexistence. That's right, they flicker! Let the cool rush of nostalgia sweep over you like a river of sweet, sweet gaming refreshment.

Tokyo Beat Down is set to be unleashed on March 10, 2009 with an MSRP of $29.99.

Hey, I was just coming in to post this!

Of course, I'm including a link to Tiny Cartridge (http://tinycartridge.com/post/69420206/atlus-usually-caters-mostly-to-people-who-like), which has become my very best friend since getting a DS. :D

And a YouTube video.

I heard this game could possibly suck. I'll see if I can nab the Japanese version and give it a whirl.

Press release. (GoNintendo (http://gonintendo.com/?p=70961))

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 28, 2009 - Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today profiled two of the main characters of Tokyo Beat Down™ for Nintendo DS™. It’s your typical tale of greed, corruption, terrorism, and good old-fashion violence. Just like any good drama, these Beast Cops make the story with their hilarious tongue-in-cheek humor
while they rely on their fists, firearms, and anything else that happens to be lying around to beat the sin out of evil-doers. You can get to know two of their members below…

Senior Patrol Officer
Lewis Cannon

He’s fearless. He’s reckless. He’s practically feckless!

Lewis is one of Yaesu Station’s finest officers (even if the higher-ups are too embarrassed to admit to it).

Be warned: His bad sense of humor and unorthodox methods can be hard to tolerate at times, but he’ll do whatever it takes to bring criminals to justice!

Patrol Officer
Rika Hyodo

She’s as vulgar as she is violent, and her flair for fashion is surpassed only by her flair for tracking down criminals.

The other beast cops like to tease her, but she has no problem keeping them in line.
She may be a woman, but she’s more man than you’ll ever be!

About Tokyo Beat Down
Who has it within them to rise up against the ever growing threat of violence, crime, and terrorism on the streets of Tokyo? Enter the Beast Cops, tireless servants of justice. These men and women struggle night and day for the heart of the city. They’ll match any villain punch for punch, kick for kick, bullet for bullet. They’re Beast Cops because they will do whatever it takes, pay any price, inflict as much damage as necessary, in order to restore peace and security to the streets of Tokyo.

Key Features

* Beat ‘em up that lets you shoot ‘em up - When fisticuffs aren’t enough, add guns to deliver a whole new brand of justice to the mean streets of Tokyo. Pick up a variety of weapons, ranging from handguns to rocket launchers, for intense action on each level.
* Badass 70’s cop show vibe- Outrageous style, over-the-top substance, and no holds barred hardboiled police action mix with madcap humor and sharply-written dialogue. Dishing out justice to the seamy underbelly of Tokyo has never been this satisfying.
* Multiple characters & endings - This sordid tale of Tokyo’s criminal set unfolds through the eyes of three different cops with unique play styles. Story branches lead to multiple endings that determine whether you’ll get your shot to beat down the ultimate crime boss.

The MSRP of Tokyo Beat Down is $29.99.
