and it's (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/38594) awesome. (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/38593)
Ok, I'm officially dying to see this. The trailer looked great, but I was tempering my expectations since I figured Snyder would fuck it up. But I trust Moriarty on AICN and if he says that it rules so far then I'm sold.
My buddy told me about this last night and it's somehow managed to get me more excited for this. Cannot come soon enough.

Kevin Smith (and maybe Scott Mosier) has seen the whole thing and said it was amazing.

I'm controlling myself by not reading or watching a single thing about this movie until I'm in the theater watching it.
I don't know if I can hold out that long.

This is pretty much what I'm trying to do.

I think the gaming industry has proved that hype isn't always a good thing. At least a lot of the hype seems to be coming from well informed sources but still. I guess we'll see next year!

I don't think the test for this movie will be the short bits. Having seen the trailer, we know that Snyder has got something special. However, I just don't know if he'll be able to squeeze it all into 2 hours. I pray that he can, but that's what is really going to make or break this movie.
According to Smith the changes that were made work well. I'm still skeptical, though. It's my opinion, that Snyder is all style and no substance (not a bad thing with the right material, mind you) so I will go in to the theater with low expectations. I do want to come out amazed, though.

It sounds like this is being made for fans of the graphic novel. Can someone who never read that still enjoy Snyder's movie?

I'm starting to be ever so slightly hopeful that this won't suck.

Not that it won't necessarily be great, but posts on aintitcoolnews saying that an upcoming comic book movie is the best thing ever? That's about the equivalent of Iran's state media saying that Israel sucks.

I have recently purchased and read the graphic novel. Did it spoil the movie for me? In a sense no. Now more than ever I want to watch this movie! The comic book is so well done I can't wait to see how it translates!
I also love the song they used in the trailer! I hope casual movie goers give this movie a chance.

They will/are. I've gotten so many requests for my copy of Watchmen. I'm guessing this will be on par with the amount of money that 300 makes. Which, considering it's being released in March, is quite a lot.

Devin at CHUD was blown away by the footage and he's even more of a skeptic than Moriarity is about stuff like this, so now I'm comfortable in thinking that I'm not going to be disappointed.

You're thinking of Harry. Moriarity is a lot more critical in his reviews. He didn't like Superman Returns much for example.

Includes a quick shot of the scene where Rorcharch visits Manhattan in his lab from the first issue. Very cool!

Episode 3 was by FAR the best Prequel. Combine watching the movie with reading the Novel (which provided a fantastic characterization) and you have it nearly on par with the originals.
I don't think the prequels can be directly compared due to the prequels focus on corruption of government and Jedi as a whole, where the originals focus on rebellion and adventure with a small group. However, Episode 3 was a blast.
It goes Originals, 3, 1.........and then 2. At least in my opinion. I've never "picked" a favorite original due to liking specific elements of specific movies. V is all around great, VI has ridiculously fun conclusion, and IV is just...magic?

I was completely on board for Watchmen after the first trailer was released. As skeptical as I was about the idea of turning Watchmen into a film at first, but everything I've seen and read about it since just gets me more and more stoked.

N'Gai Croal is at one of these screenings and he is live twittering it. I don't know how far his geek hat goes, but he's been liking what he's been seeing.

I agree on your ordering by quality. I think 3 and 2 would have been much, much better movies with a different actor playing Anakin though.

I think so too, but again, he wasn't given much to work with. The scene after he kills the Tusken Raider's is awful "I MURDERED PEOPLE, BUT I WANT TO BE LOVED". He makes a great arrogant Anakin, but a horrible emotional Anakin. The arrogant moments he shines, and that's good because that's what leads him to the dark side.
I really hate comparing the prequels to the new ones because they are hardly similar in subject or tone. One is dark, corrupt, declining. The other is adventure, wonder, and redemption.
And of course there are disagreements with how we think certain elements, like the Clones, were handled, but remove some pretty awful dialog here and there and think of them in a different light (IMPORTANT), and they are quite entertaining.

Yep, I agree with you on that Kagger....3 was probably the best of the prequels and 2 was the worst.

Did you read the Episode 3 Novelization? I know that shouldn't be required for a movie to be great, but it just completes the novel. The first 130 pages of a 300+ page book is the rescue of Palpatine. It covers Anakin and Obi-Wan's brother relationship, Dooku not realzing he was being betrayed (until it was too late), and the fact that Grievous is worse than Hitler (and not just a dude who coughs).
The arrest of Palpatine is handled in a much more appropriate manner. In the book, he fends off 4 Jedi, killing them with awkward hits.
In the novel, he has his lightsaber hidden in a statue. He summons it, impaling one Jedi through the head as it arrives, and he then kills the 2nd (Not Kit Fisto and Not Mace Windu), during the initial shock.

It really makes the movie shine. The duel at the end has more impact because there were like 40 pages about Anakin and Obi-Wan.
I won't even defend Episode 2. It's a movie that has some good parts in it, compared to the other prequels having a couple of bad scenes.

I am pretty excited about this as it looks like they may actually pull it off, but a bad movie adaptation of something I like would be nothing new.
