Aaargh, I must have seen the first 1.5 hours of the game 4 times already, but it summed it up quite nicely, and nailed why I never got any further.

Do you have the Subsistene version or the orignal release? Subsistence is absolutely the version to have, and worth tracking down instead of playing the original release. MGS3: Subsistence is one of the best games ever.

Indeed, free camera control, and several other improvements make the greatness of the game easier to see.

That comic got about as far into the game as I did.
Ok, so not quite. I fought Ocelot...or rather the game made me watch Snake fight Ocelot. It just wouldn't be MGS without cutscenes to play the game for you. Then I remember crawling under a bunch of electric fences after another long-ass cutscene. That's about as far as I got.

The camera was annoying and made sneaking past guards more of a trial and error thing than anything, as half the time I couldn't figure out where they were. And the endless cutscenes just got on my nerves.
Whoever makes the MGS games just needs to go make a movie and get it over and done with instead of making half movie half game hybrids.
