Every time I click Steam.exe or Stalker icon or whatever, this is what I get:

Anyone know why?

You have a bad field. It extends past the end of the blob.
Sorry. I couldn't resist.

There's an entry (http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/wiki/Error:_Steam.exe_(main_exception):_CMultiFieldBlob (pSerialized):_Bad_field_-_extend_past_end_of_blob) in the Steam WIKI about this...

You know... Google is quite useful for oddly phrased errors! ;) Try checking here (http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/wiki/Error:_Steam.exe_(main_exception):_CMultiFieldBlob (pSerialized):_Bad_field_-_extend_past_end_of_blob), or if you want a slightly more interesting response, try here! Thank you, I wasn't aware of that hence the point of asking on CoG ;)
Thanks again.
Personnaly I tend to ignore error messages since they're often unrelated to the real problem, in this case for example, I'd just wipe out steam and reinstall it :).

I love Window's error messages.
Oh wait, actually I think they are stupid. :/
Maybe the next version of Windows will finally have error messages in plain English, with the option of getting more detailed/technical information if the user so desires.

Uninstall Steam, restart your PC, then reinstall Steam. Problem solved.

I just realized that OldeWolf seems to be having some computer issues today. This and the Stalker thread...maybe it's operator error. ;)

That's Valve's error message, nothing to do with Windows.

Huh...I wonder if I have the cheat code for that game. :D

If the Steam cloud doesn't get enough money, it coalesces into the blob and crashes your OS. Hence the need for the big sle this week to keep the blob pacified.

So true. And Mags the perfect example of spoiling the steam blobs. :p

Maybe the next version of Windows will finally have error messages in plain English, with the option of getting more detailed/technical information if the user so desires. You'd be surprised how difficult it is to provide meaningful error messages to the user for any potential issue that might crop up.

You're as bad as MagGnome. It's got fuck all to do with Windows! If I sent you a program that simply popped up an alert box saying "ERROR: You remind me of a fuckpig I once knew." (which you don't, incidentally ;)) would you blame Bill Gates for that too?

Well it does sound like something Bill Gates would say...

And here we go again, a couple innocent jokes, and someone from the MS fanboy brigade has to get all butthurt about it.
Anyone else miss the old days, before the Xbox, when everyone hated Windows, even the people who used it?

Wait a minute. Did you just call me a Microsoft fanboy? :) Hi, I'm DangerousDaze. I don't think you've read any of my other posts!

Calling DangerousDaze a Microsoft fanboy... Sir, you need to do some basic research on Mr. Daze.
