I have to back up a bunch of files to DVD, and Google is giving me an awful lot of options. Do any of you have a favorite DVD burning software that you would recommend? Just data - text files and audio I've recorded and created.

Deepburner.

http://www.deepburner.com/

Free, amazingly easy to use, and has plenty of options. Give it a whirl.

I'm lazy, for regular data discs I just use the windows burner. Gets the stuff on the disc and doesn't take too long.

::edit:: Bah, I haven't burned DVDs for a long time, so I forgot that XP doesn't have this... Just ignore me!

Nero, still works really well.

http://cdburnerxp.se/

that's the one I've been using recently. It's not as full featured as Nero, but at the same time, Nero's so full of bloatware, that I don't think it's right to pay 100% thier asking price when I really only want 10% (ok... maybe 15%) of thier functionality.

cdburnerxp does burn DVDs fine though, and works on Vista too, don't let the name fool you.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I ended up grabbing DeepBurner right away, and it's been doing great - simple drag-and-drop interface, status bar to let you know how much more room you have on the DVD. I guess the real test comes when I try and retrieve the data in a year - but so far, ten DVDs worth of backups have been made and they all work just fine.

I wish I was as drunk as he is. Maybe in a couple of hours...

I will have to look up Deepburner. My copy of Nero is old and bloated.

I have been a loyal infrarecorder (http://infrarecorder.org/) user for those off chances where I need to actually make a disc, like a Linux distro. It is sparse, lean, and it gets the job done. If you need to burn images, movie discs for a DVD player, or just data.
