Nothing, it seems. Page is slooooooooooooooow, and I'm on a super speedy link.

At $30 it may be worth it to pick up Mass Effect again.

I noticed the same thing. They must be getting slammed.

Looks like the Mass Effect and Spore come sans SecuRom. If only the steam store worked, it would be nice to find out.

I gave this link (http://lifehacker.com/394410/access-us+only-web-content-with-hotspot-shield) to Lon Lon a while back when he was complaining about this and he seemed excited about it, but I don't know if he has put it to good use or not. It is a Lifehacker topic about accessing US only stuff using "Hotspot Shield". Take a look for yourself, or see if Lon Lon has an opinion on it.

Good stuff. Probably useful for a lot of things, but with a 3Gb cap, not much use for Steam downloads.

I'm surprised it took this long, I'm sure they're both getting a sweet deal out of this. EA handles the brick and mortar distribution of Valve's games, and Valve digitally distributes EA's games, I'm sure they both cut each other a deal.

This is pretty fucking good news. A step away from EA's terrible DL service is a step in the right direction. Guess I'll be buying more EA games. Hell, might finally get Crysis: Warhead.

Ah, bummer. If you'd like, I'll buy what you want as a gift and you can paypal me the reimbursement.
Edit: Or, what about UltraSurf (http://www.ultrareach.com/index_en.htm)?

I honestly don't care that much. There's nothing there that I immediately want to buy, and I expect everything will be cheaper elsewhere anyway. I was just getting the 'Waaah! We can't have it!" whine-post out of the way. :p

Oh crap.
Of course I may wonder why some EA products specifically mention SecuRom and some don't then.
Or Newell was crowing about his DRM coup a couple weeks ago.
Now I am left

Mass Effect for $30 is a great deal, if you were ever on the fence about the game, now would be a good time to pick it up. I'm wondering if in the following weeks we could see a EA Steam weekend deal. Steam is starting to become unstoppable.

Mass Effect owns. 30 dollars is a goddamn steal for that game. It's on my List even, maybe in honor of this news I'll do that one for the next article.

I picked it up for PC, even though I already have it for 360.

OK, I've been thinking about it, and you could probably use Hotspot Shield to make the purchase. Once it is associated with your account, disable Hotspot Shield and download as normal.... oh, uh, yeah, well if you or someone else decide that you do want one of the "US Only" things, give it a shot.
Mass Effect is the only game on there I wouldn't mind picking up.

It has boggled my mind for years that Valve and EA are such close "partners" but EA did not sell their games on Steam.
Now if only EA made a game that I cared enough for that I'd buy. Maybe Dragonage.

it's simply a better game on the PC... less texture pop on any system that can run it well with a better interface and some fixes and far less load time among other things. I played a bit on a freinds xbox when it first came out and i'm not sure i would have had as much fun with it on that as i did with my PC copy.

This seems like pretty big news to me. It wasn't front-paged?
I'm not a huge EA fan, but I know the importance of having their stuff available through Steam. Awesome. Digital distribution gets better every day.

Except for Mass Effect, which I already own and wasn't that impressed with (I know, I'm the only one, I dunno why it just wasn't up my... alley) there isn't a single game on that list I would even buy. But I know that's just me, I'm sure this is good news to an awful lot of people.
Funny how a few beers suddenly makes my opinion seem vitally necessary to share with everybody.

This is great news! I'll definitely be picking up ME at some point. Does anyone know if these games still contain the crappy EA DRM? I sure hope not.
I'm crossing my fingers that EA will start releasing their back catalog on Steam as well. They have a HUGE library of classic titles that I would love to pick up on Steam for cheap, provided they are made compatible with current hardware and operating systems, of course.
I bought STALAKER for $5.

These games are now available to Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Also looks like Crysis has dropped in price.
I guess they were intending to make them available to these regions from the start but the legal work just took a bit longer. Buying the two of them together costs a cent extra though - not the best deal ever, but better than when it cost 5 dollars more.
Mass Effect is probably too good a deal to pass up at $30. And I'm a little freaked out we'll start getting local pricing now that Europe has, so I'll probably do that soon on account of paranoia. Of course it's not like I actually have the money too, but I always seem to find a way with steam...

Where's Battlefield?
That is a series I do not want on Steam. The volume of online titles that have broken Steam versions is staggering. Lots of compatability problems in Dawn of War, Titan Quest come to mind. Dice crafted a good server and matching structure, And a dirty port could be bad.

Bwahahahaha. Battlefield has a good server and match making structure? Probably one of the worst online matchmaking systems ever. Then again, so is everything that is based on Gamespy. Now if they modded the Battlefield games onto the Steam system, I'd be so happy.

This makes me furious because of the number of times I've used the EA Downloader.
Fuck.

The UK must not be included in this. Not that I want to buy any of these game right now, but I can't see them in the Steam store, either from the website or in-Steam. The only EA games that show up are still Crysis and SiN.

Well, Mass Effect PC can kiss my ass, I've uninstalled it. The damn software is brutally unstable on my system (and many others too, it seems) and the only full solution is to roll back my driver from the 180.x version I have to a 178.x - as well as some shenanigans with PhysX.
It was getting scarily bad. I'd have to reboot my computer just to play, because any other 3D game having run could cause the 3D engine to be flaky. I had to reboot AFTER I played, because the damn game left my 3D driver in a goofy state.
Dear Bioware/Demiurge: Fix your shit. Until then, I'm off to play the carloads of games that don't require this much grief. Bye.
