It was EvAv Diplomacy.
Then it was PiRi Diplomacy.
Now it's CoG Diplomacy?
I say we just call it like it is: "Ox pwns u" Diplomacy.

Just you wait until you have to face the demons from the 3rd game...you might have gotten off easily in #2 i think.
And I'm so in. PM me if i forget about this thread.

A lack of co-existence is the reason for fanboy wars. In other words, I'm neutral.
EDIT: I mistook the op but I like how obvious that is based on my response so I'll keep it.

I remember seeing the Diplomacy threads on EvAv. Anyone want to bring me up to speed?

I've yet to play it, but I've been looking to get a game in with some friends. Basically, it's a war-game, à la Risk, Axis & Allies, etc., but there are no random elements. You don't roll dice to see who wins a battle; greater numbers always win.
The entire game focuses on diplomacy between nations. You want to take on a territory but you don't have the troops? You need to get help from an ally. But the beauty of the game is this: all moves are done simultaneously and in secret. So you can say one thing and do the complete opposite if need be.
Example: You ask an ally if he'll support your attack on a given country. He agrees. When you write your moves down, you send some troops to attack, relying on your ally to send some to help. He doesn't help you. So now you committed your troops to an attack they cannot win, and your old "ally" may now be in a position to fuck you up.
As you can see, it's an incredibly complex game filled with politics and a lot of back-stabbing (don't take anything that happens in this game personally!).
After all that, I'd like to express my interest in joining an on-line game!

Ox, I owe you a HUGE "Grats".
You talked the talk and won when everyone should of known better.

I think I'd like to join as well, although I will be away from the Internet until the middle of next week. In the meantime I'll do some research into it.

Oh man, I just voted "Yes, absolutely, I am so in." from the poll on the front page; for fun. Those polls really need the title of the thread they're from...

Crap, I should have realized that such a basic poll would cause people to vote yes when they really didn't mean it. <Facepalm>

The poll shows up on the sidebar without any context, so, yeah. Way to keck it up, motherkecker. Based on what I read in the earlier threads, Diplomacy sounds interesting, but not really my thing. Also, I don't think I'd enjoy the sensation of the Battle Cattle dancing on my grave.

I'm interested, but I've never played before, so I think I'll just read some info about the game and wait a few games before trying it out myself. Is it possible to "watch" a game to get a feel for it? I'm assuming the moves themselves are public and you could follow along at least. I read the posts about Ox owning all of you, and all of the codes made me think that perhaps I shouldn't bother trying to figure it all out. Plus I'm too nice and would probably have trouble backstabbing anyone and would just go on believing that my allies would never betray me. Which of course means that you would probably want me in the game now, like a whale in poker. :p

Sure. For the game we just finished, go to here (http://www.floc.net/dpjudge/?game=evilavatar2) and you can see all the moves and a map.

The only codes were three-letter abbreviations for each space on the map. Rather than writing "North Sea," I would write "NTH". Figuring it out is just a matter of looking at the map and seeing the name printed there. Alternatively, there's a handy guide at the back of the rulebook.

Yeah, I finally got around to reading some of those EvAv links from Keck and saw that the codes were just locations plus things like attacking, supporting, convoy, etc.

I think they're already planning their next game on Play It Review It, and I guess there will be future games after that with more people from here. Or Keck is possibly going to try to do multiple games at once again. He's in 6 online DnD games at once, so it wouldn't surprise me if he had multiple other types of games going too. He's completely insane. :D

Bah, if you can't get Clark to start his game soon, then your eighth game better be one with you as DM that includes me. :p

That was a pretty impressive win for Italy. I tip my hat.
*edit* - I would like to play in another game, but I don't know if I'll have the time. Sigh.
