My name is J Arcane, and I am addicted to Tetris.

More specifically, the SNES version that is part of the Tetris & Dr. Mario cart. I downloaded it because I'm currently stuck with my Mac as my primary gaming device, so lately SNES emulation is my chief source of gaming.

I'm bloody hooked on the Vs. Com mode in the Tetris portion of the cart. It cheats like a bastard, and the piece distribution is hella streaky and seems to run on bastet rules, but the competitive element is just addictive as hell.

Who's a Tetris freak, and what's your favorite version and game mode?

I am a complete Tetris freak my favorite version is Tetris Sphere on the N64. I also really enjoy Tetris worlds for the PS2 mostly because you can edit your tetriminos (it must be the girl in me LOL)

I definitely love tetris, though my favorite is probably not technically a tetris game. It's Tetris Attack for the SNES, which is just puzzle league with yoshis. =3

I also love Tetris Sphere and some other tetris game for the 64, the exact name of which I can't recall. It let you make gold and silver cubes that would score you massive points and destroy the other players in versus mode. Also, every line you destroyed went towards building monuments in a gallery.

Oh, and the Nintendo themed Tetris for the DS is also full of awesome.

Tetris on my DS is my downfall. I normally play that during the time I'm studying for a big test.

Back when I was in High School, everyone had this version of Tetris that was designed to work on the TI-83 Graphing Calculators. All you would see during math was everyone staring at their screens, tapping away...

Tetris DS is the way to go. The 2 player push mode is the greatest thing ever created, and I can even play it online over the internet. Mission & Puzzle modes are really good too, and I was addicted to the Touch mode for a while also. Basically it's just all around awesome. It's too bad it's out of print now.

On Amazon, it goes for about $65 new and $45 used.

Are you sure we didn't go to the same high school?

I still have my cartridge of Tetris & Dr. Mario. I spent many an hour sitting in front of my TV with it, and I have no skills to show of from it.

I've spent many a night on Tetris DS. Tetris has always been a favorite of mine, ever since my NES.

What the hell, are you serious? Sheesh. You'd think they'd make a lot of copies of freakin' TETRIS for the DS.

Nintendo doesn't seem to do reprints of DS games, so if you miss out on the initial run you're out of luck. WarioWare: Touched and Kirby Canvas Curse are also out of print, but they're still reasonably priced, unlike Electroplankton which now runs over $100 new.

I love Tetris, the DS release being my favorite.

The regular mode just trying to get a highscore, or push against the level five computer are awesome. So is regular mode with powerups and 4 friends or Push against a real person.

Most of my friends refuse to play with me because I am the fucking destroyer of all worlds.

I've been thinking of getting Tetris DS but maybe not now... It's kind of silly that Nintendo won't rerun good selling games.

I still play the original Game Boy Tetris release. Only bad thing is that it doesn't save my highscores.

Anybody else ever get that thing where your eyes start seeing the falling and arranging blocks during the normal day and in dreams?

Dude, I do it constantly during the day now.

It's pretty fucked up.

There was article about that somewhere. I wonder when my mind goes will I be there playing Tetris in my mind for ever. :( (ok it's only a sad face if I don't get to play tetris in my shell of body. otherwise i'd be ok)

I have had the blocks falling in Tetris, but for me it was Super Puzzle Fighter that induced dreams (literally) of falling gems exploding with a perfectly set up trigger block.

For many years I cradled and loved my original Game Boy tetris. That game was a thing of beauty. That was until last year when I bought my DS and then found a copy of Tetris DS. I am a push mode addict.

I sucked balls at push. So I started playing the highest level. I think I could go to level 4 and play just above the AI. So I'm like a 4.5 player. When I beat level five, it's self high five time for me.

It takes a little while to build up. Fresh off of not playing for a few months I am usually about a level 4 player and can work up to a 5. Level 5 is just kick in the balls tough. The CPU drops pieces faster than I can process it so I totally understand.

Odd that you'd bring this up now, as DeceasedCrab just started a "Let's Play: Tetris" :p

I've been looking into Tetrinet, an old free Tetris program for computers with internet support. I played it a lot back in.. 1998? And apparently derivatives are still floating around, with Blocktrix being the current client.

First Tetris for the NES is my personal favourite. No wall rotates. No rotates into blocks. Hardcore. I'd love to play a bit of TGM though, but I've never had the chance. Tetris DS is also another favourite, although it's... actually not that hard in comparison to most.

As soon as I started reading this thread I began humming it. Now it's stuck in my head, damn you all.

Tetris DS is my preferred version. I got the Mrs a DS just so we could play vs. mode.
