From IGN (http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/915/915459p1.html):
Doug Lombardi, Valve's VP of Marketing, has told IGN that the upcoming Left 4 Dead demo will take place "from the front of the Survivor's first campaign (including the opening movie)." This area of the demo will encompass a hospital level, and an area "outside the Hospital." (http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/915/915459p1.html)The news was placed under the 360 version of Left4Dead. I would assume a similar time frame for the PC version.

I keep expecting to come home, fire up Steam and get greeted by something along the lines of "Pre-install Left 4 Dead and get access into the beta".
Should one really maintain such lofty dreams? :o

Sure. But how much of a beta could it really need. It is not a complex game in any way and only supports a few players.

I cannot wait. Seeing and playing this at PAX has only further fueled my excitement.

Well, if they're sticking to the original plan and integrating party-based matchmaking into steam at the same time, I'd say there's a fair amount of stuff that could go wrong.

Well, shiver me timbers, I actually read the article and was pleasantly surprised to find this:
You can pre-order the full version of the zombie-killing first-person shooter at retail outlets now, or wait until October 15 to pre-order it off Valve's Steam service. Either way will save you an additional 10% off the regular price. Left 4 Dead will invade homes on November 17.

I'll be all over this. This is my highest anticipated game of the year.

Good to hear that the L4D pre-order on Steam isn't getting the shaft, and we're getting that 10% discount.

I'll need a demo to figure out if my computer can handle the game.

From what I remember, the min requirements are like 2ghz dual core processor, 1g ram, and 128 mb vid card at least.
Back on topic, playing this at PAX was sweet. I had never played a PC game as fun as it.

I wish the demo would come out sooner...I'm dying to try this.

I don't need a demo.
While I don't need a demo to decide whether or not to purchase this game, I would gladly get the demo if only to play it as soon as possible.

I got one, but it wasn't my size so I shipped it off to Mot Wakorb. Sort of a consolation prize for getting hitched in July and not getting to go.

I would love a demo, although I'm sure this is a day 1 purchase for me anyway.

I believe that its 3 Ghz single core, or any of the dual core family processors.

Is an Athlon 64 3000+ adequate, then?

Despite the possibility of receiving death threats from everyone on this site, I'd actually like Left 4 Dead to be moved back to a later release date. Why? So I can get my PC fixed before it comes out! :(

We will be playing this a year from now. Plenty of community and Valve suppport will come.
What I wonder is 1 what will pricing be. I can see it being 30 on PC like TF2 was but not Xbox. 2 Given the cluster fuck that is TF2 on Xbox, will people have access to the content?

From what I've read...TF2 on xbox will be getting the content once it is all released on PC. They are doing so because MS wants to charge consumers for each update and Valve wanted to ensure that consumers got value for their money.
I would assume that the same is going to happen for Left 4 Dead.
